we've got the solution:

Alexey Nikolaychuk, the author of RivaTuner, has the software solution;

and a few of us now have the complete hardware solution;

Sure, I'll give it a shot. Here are the benchmarks with my original BIOS:

Game 1: 227.7 FPS
Game 2: 67.4 FPS
Game 3: 57.1 FPS
Game 4: 46.4 FPS

I'll post more after I make with the flashing. ;)

OK, here are the results after flashing the card:

Game 1: 226.4 FPS
Game 2: 66.4 FPS
Game 3: 56.8 FPS
Game 4: 46.3 FPS

In other words, it didn't work. :(

That sucks, so in other words, it looks like the only way it's possible is if a hard mod is performed. I was hoping it wouldn't become this complicated.

Hi Fafnir,

I have an XpertVison(reference) 6800NU. I don't have a camera though to make picture of the core:( I can but send u my bios to compare with GT bios-es) As soon as I get home I'll link the bios here;)

Maybe it's "more than nothing". I found this in a review. 6800NU core:

OMG. So you don't need to "hardmod"? Is that working (setting the pipes) ? Or just a "dead switch"? I would be very happy if it is true:D

Oh man! I've just read the Rivatuner topic @ Guru3d... I can't wait till the new Rivatuner is realized.:D I'm really eager that I have a full operational 16 pipe core or not:slobber: ;)

WHERE CAN WE DOWNLOAD THIS, AND DOES IT WORK ON ALL 6800NU???

be cool if it is possible to open the pipes :) :slobber:

would want to do it in linux tho :( also, didn't people say that the nu's possibly have broken pipes which is why they are disabled? :(

it looks like we are getting closer to making it a reality. :D I hope you guys can come up with a solution to it soon. ;)

Ah, so when is this new one coming out? Since those low level options aren't present at the moment.

I finally got off my ass and took off the HSF to my card (mostly because I was wondering why the hell it wasn't overclocking worth a damn) and along the top, the transisters/resisters whatever look exactly the same as your example pic. Here's how it goes:

[ ] [-] [ ] [ ] [-] [-] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ]
[-] [-] [-] [-] [-] [-] [-] [-]

Eleven are full, seven are empty.

hi peeps,
why not try this.
on another thread someone has made a bios editor for 6800nu,gt,u cards, with this bios editor i changed my 6800gt's bios to boot up with 405core and 1150 mem, with a voltage of 1.4.
why dont you get hold of a 6800 ultra bios and edit it with this editor, change the boot speeds to match the 6800nu then flash it to a 6800nu, that way you have a 6800 ultra bios on the card but you also have the original clock speeds of an non ultra.
the link is http://www.mvktech.net/request.php?555
also if you want to try this instead, this is my xfx 6800 gt bios, ive edited for you it has a core of 325, and a mem of 350, just select rename and delete the .txt from the end.

there is NO way they were able to flash a 6800 ultra bios onto a 6800 NU WITHOUT TOUCHING THE CLOCKSPEEDS

WE WERE THE FIRST AND THEY "TRIED AND FAILED" BEFORE US

THAT MEANS THEY COULDN'T HAVE TOUCHED THE CLOCKSPEEDS

AND EXTREMETHEME WAS THE FIRST

A CARD RATED FOR 325/350 IS NOT GOING TO DO 400/1100

ESPECIALLY THE 1100 PART

THEY'RE JUST MAKING CRAP UP

UNLIKE SOME OF US WHICH ARE ACTUALLY TRYING PRETTY HARD TO MAKE THIS WORK

AND --->>> FOR EVERYONE

ah soz :) I thought they just flashed it to the ultra to open the pipes and then flashed it back to nu and it kept all pipes and still showed artifacts ??

flashing back the BIOS from the 12-pipelined GeForce 6800 you’ll see that the situation remains the same – the card still has 16 pipelines and also has those 3D artifacts.

be cool if it is possible, I don't just believe this one review and maybe it does need a lot of testing.

ok sorry, was just tryin to help,
i have a little more advice for anyone who wants to flash the 6800nu to 6800u,
just buy a 6800gt for gods sake, they dont cost that much more to buy, then turn up the clock speed to make it an ultra instead,

13artjan

ah so by buying a 6800gt we can flash the 6800nu to 6800u :S

thats stupid advise
i bould a 6800nu cos i couldnt afford to buy a 6800gt and if i did i would have bought a x800pro vivo (mod it to xt)

btw it seems like u want an ultra (cos ur gt is prolly at ultra speeds), why not buy an ultra for gods sake, they dont cost that much more ro buy, then turn up the clock speed to make it an extreme ultra.

see: stupid advise!

The cheapest nu is £180 and cheapest gt is £280.

Not much difference ??? only about 55% more

Fafnir,

Could you plase tell me what are the default voltages for a 6800nu? Are these correct?:

-2D 1.1v (or 1.2v??)
-3D 1.4v
-Thtr voltage: 1.2v

Thank you!;)

and the GT's and ultras jump to 1.4V in 3D

get this: http://www.mvktech.net/request.php?555

and load your bios to find out what voltages its at

or see this and find the lastest version if the link above doesn't work

Thanks Fafnir,

I know Xtremetheme's Great tool and I'm consulting with him for a while in the other topic;) There are some compatibility issues still but he is working on fixing it (THX Xtremetheme:worship: ).

His application says that my 2D voltage is 1.1v and the 3D is 1.4v.
Should I set the Thtrl voltage?

Yes and that should be a solution for my "quiting to desktop freezes" and "going to power saving mode between 2 3DMark tests" (Not an overheating issue I'm sure... and it's quite annoying too. )

Thx for the advice:D I'm going to try them, but I have to wait till Xtremetheme publishes version 1.3.

Are there any news or "step forward"? I'm really looking forward to test weather the extra 4 pipes are working or not.

We've got this reply

"Patience. Please don't be so excited about this feature. Probably, it will not work on all 6800 boards. I've developed it on Leadtek A400 TDH and there are no problems when switching between 8/12/16-pipe modes on my test rig. There are also no problems in switching 16-pipe GF6800 Ultra to 12/8-pipe mode on Digit-Life's test boards. However, there were already two graphics cards (ASUS and Galaxy 6800, both reports from the same beta tester), which don't react on pipeline configuration register reprogramming performed by RT. So if it is not the tester's fault, then pipeline count seem to be hardwired on some boards. We don't know yet if it is per-vendor or per-GPU based. So beta testing continues and we've cheching new boards/brands and investigating this question deeper.
So if you can/wish assist with testing - let me know. Take a note, that I'm talking about experienced RT users, which used NVstrap before. I need the people I can trust, not newbies who just wish to leak new version."
