I'm in the same boat, my 9700 will do about 204 on the KD7.

That really sucks I almost want to put my ti4600 back in to run at 215 stable! wonder if anyone else has had luck with this cards.

Opp....can you overclock the card when at 200+ fsb's??

Cheers

Highest I have completed a 3DM run with a Radeon 9700 was 205 MHz, but the card was only at 351/350 (I still have work to do on the card). This was in an AT7 MAX. I also have run it in a KD7 up to 204, but did not have time to try higher.

I can Overclock the card but I can't use the v-mod on the card after 198:confused:
So without more voltage on the 9700 my max clock is about 455 and with the mod hooked up it is around 506.

Hate to say it to you Abit boys, bit it may be time to look into EPoX or AOpen boards that allow vagp adjustments.

My 9700 won't even run the first test on 3dmarks at 185 fsb. I can boot to windows just fine when the test starts it goes blank and locks. Guess mine is a dud maybe i'll pick up another one and hope for the best ...

I guess you AMD guys are looking forward to the nForce2 then... You can lock the AGP/PCI's! :)

SPQQKY:)

Even without the Vagp adjustment, the other boards still can't bench as fast, they lack the overall system bandwidth unfortunately. OPP benches at the top of the AMD charts as do I..and even without adequate voltage....the trade off is not beneficial at this point in time.:)

So they dont like high fsb!

So the extra voltage to the agp doesn't help with stability when OCing with the R9700? Or are you telling me you'd rather give up 10MHz fsb and stick with an Abit board over EpoX or AOpen. That's too bad. Well, it's give and take I guess. Even with lower FSB, the R9700's are at the top of the chart now.

SPQQKY,

Its just that you can take a epox and bench 3D with the highest FSB you can get out of and it still won't beat a Abit doing 200 give or take a few:D

OPP's point is to the point:)

SPQQKY....Yes..having additional AGP voltage would be a plus indeed, I agree on that point completely. What I'm saying is what OPP just said...the Epox and Aopen boards tho giving higher VAgp and higher benching FSB, still cannot match the Abits at 200 or so FSB and with less card clocks.

I've benched both an 8KHA+ vs. a KR7a and most recently a fine 8K3A+ vs. my current KX7. And I mean the 8K3A+ was a great board....very easy for anyone to run fast on the FSB...but you pay for that ease in 3DMark benches that can't equal the same setup run with an Abit board. I gave it 6 weeks go and no matter what tweaks, the Epox couldn't equal let alone pass my KX7:)

Ill soon be benching my KD7-Raid against my old 8K5A3+ with the same cardclocks etc so should be able to give you a comparison at some point early next week... if not in about 15 minutes *not tried 3DMark on this mobo yet!*

Right then... here is the best I could get out of my Epox:
The following was done on my Abit at lower FSB and lower VGA Clocks... however total cpumhz remains the same... 1.9Ghz
The Abit is a clear 1000 points ahead when running at lower specs than the same hardware on the Epox board. OK, this is with a GF4 Ti4200, but same will apply no matter what the graphics card....

And that Abit score was without even pushing it... no vmods, water on gpu. water on cpu.

Thanks Marci...

Wow, what do you think is wrong with Epox's Dragothic and Nature? Poor AGP implentation?

There's almost 20 fps difference!

I would be interested to see how high a Radeon will run on a Epox (FSB).
