r404 is better than the r134a thats in it.
I wouldnt even bother with trying to charge it with r404 though, unless you know how to fill a system already, or you want to take it to an hvac shop....

yea.. if anything if u do it yourself use R290.. if you check my next phase change article out which I will be doing soon.. You can see from that how to put in an access valve.. Or you can wait for my third article.. which I have no idea when that will come.. but maybe a month or so.. I guess I will talk about mod'in the prometeia and vapochill n öööö..

If you charge it yourself, and can get R404, by all means use r404!R290 is just a cheap refrigerant....

punisher:
I thought you were "widening your views" about refrigerants and you said that I had a major love with R290. :p

Hey aenigma, which refrigerants are better than r290 and by how much?

Yea.. dude But I know for a fact.. since he doesn't even know how to swap refrigerants that he isn't cert. to get refrigerants.. so his options are.. r134a which he already uses.. that's not even an option.. OR propane.. (290).. unless he goes to an HVAC shop.. which is why i recommended r290..

He was the one talking about using R404, so he must be able to get it.I am not certified, doesnt stop me from getting refrigerant :)

Svenn:
I have never tested them side by side, but I do know propane doesnt perform as good as other refrigerants such as R22.I have tested that, and noticed quite a differance.
R22, R404, R502, and R507 would probably be better, just to name a few....

Also I think prometias have Quik-Boost added to them....

The obvious advantage with R404 over propane is lack of flamability.. which isn't really a problem.. as well as R404 being made to be a refrigerant.. If you can get R22 it's the way to go.. cheap.. and effective..
