Hey all,
A buddy of mine has offered me a free TH7II and I've got a couple questions, I have 2 sticks of Kingston PC1066, will this work in the TH7II? I see by the new BIOS that TH7II will accept Northwoods, will it accept 2.8??? And what kind of a performer is the TH7II? This is a chance for me to start a budget p4, is it worth it? Oh, and he'll give me the 2.0 that's on the board??!!
Can this thing rock?

I'm using the TH7II-RAID myself and I had a few incompatibilities with Kingston PC1066... By themselves they won't work with the mobo, but I found that when I teamed up the 2 sticks of Kingston with 2 Samsung PC800-45 they worked flawlessly. I have been running the rig at 133 MHz for the past 6 months (using a 1.8A at 2.4 GHz) with the memory running at 1066 MHz mode.

Since the TH7II is based on the i850, officially it will not work with 533 MHz based P4's however most TH7II's have no problem hitting that mark. Another thing to keep in mind is the i850 does not support HyperThreading but that's not available till the 3.06 GHz proc comes out.

Go for it if you're getting the board for free, lol never thought I'd hear of a budget RDRAM based mobo. If the CPU your buddy is giving you is a Northwood then you should be able to overclock, but if it's a Willy it'll be close to max.

hehe, take it! im running a th7II in my p4 rig, and have had it at ~182 fsb (with watercooling). i had some kingston 1066, but that didnt work too well. (im pretty sure there is a rev.2 or rev.b that works fine with the th7II.)

edit: even if that is a northy, it will max at around 2.3.
