I'm getting one of these soon for my ASUS CUV4X. I picked up a Celeron 1.3GHz and am going to upgrade it from 733 to 1.3.

The unit got a good review at tom's hardware. Hopefully it works without a hitch.

Running FreeBSD 5.0 so I don't see any major OS problems.

Well, the upgrade went relatively well. Fitting the Celeron 1.3 GHz in to the Upgradeware 370GU took a bit of 'force', but once it was in there there were no problems.

The system POSTs only at a Pentium-II 1200 MHz. I've flashed the BIOS to the latest (1009) non-beta. However, FreeBSD detects the proper speed with no problems (see below).

It's a cheap way to upgrade an older system up to 1.4GHz. Thumbs up.

Hmm.

Turns out one of my sticks of ram decided to stop working. The system is also not very stable at all. I emailed the Upgradware tech-support folks, but the only thing I haven't done is flash the bios to a beta version.

So, tomorrow I'm going to pick up an ASUS TUSI-M and just be done with the hassle.

$60 down the drain? Yep.

maybe it is not stable of the voltage regulators on your board not able to get enough amperage for your processor - they chew up more power than the previous ones.
