I have a quick question, I overclocked my T-Bird 1.4 to 1533 and it ran stable in a windows environment. But everytime I try to restart it hangs on the first black screen, no beeps nothing. If I completely shut it down it restarts fine but only once. Any Ideas?
Anything would be appreciated.

Shade welcome to Xtreme :toast:

To me the hang sounds like a memory issue, how high is the memory running?? You may want to add some voltage to the mem.

Shade,

Welcome to Xtreme :)

That Tbird should be unlocked from the factory so you should be able to manipulate the Mult/FSB up and down to determine if its your CPU or memory hanging you up at the clock you're achieving :D

The mem is runnung at 133 the multiplier is 11.5. I an running 768 of samsung pc2100. So you think I should up th evoltage on the mem even if I dont move the speed? (thanks for the welcome)

If you didn't change the FSB then you need to up the CPU voltage then :)

Hey! Welcome dude! :D

What type of PSU are you using?

I think it's the cold boot issue - which means your CPU doesn't get enough Vcore to POST.

There are two solutions as far as I know:

- Use a pencil and mod the default Vcore to 1.85V

or

- Use a program that is capable of changing the FSB once you start Windows, and leave the CPU at default FSB in the BIOS.

The psu is a enermax 350. My board soyo dragon kt333, which lets me adjust my cpu voltage, should i set it to 1.85,even when it is not overclocked?

Okay, I changed the vcore to 1.85 and the ram to 2.6. It is now running at 11.0@141=1551 and seems to be stable it will restart but seems to hang longer than usual? Oh and I am using smartgaurdian and it is saying that my agp voltage is at 1.79 when it is set to 1.5? Any ideas.

What cooling do you have?

My own experience w/ Tbirds are that they get very hot.My XP1600+ runs 10 degrees cooler @ full load with the same voltage.

I forgot which heat sink I have, but it is a thermtake,I put a 80x80 fan on it. Running games and then checking the temps it is around 56c, that is overclocked. But now overclocked it will not run threw the 3dmark it locks up and reboots. I have a xp1600 on the way just to see how different is runs overclocked. Not sure if I want to order a xp2400 yet.
