Can someone explain in laymans terms, since I,m a rookie how to change settings with this program. Need to change D5 to 1E and D2 to E8. Have no idea how to do this. Help me out someone. Thanks :)

Hardass:)

You'd be better off to download WPCrset and install it. Once rebooted, open the program....and at the top make sure enable is checked off. Hit the add button.and in the next window, find register and type in your register # ie: D5. Below that is a window labeled Data...type in the data # ie: 1E. When done type ok and it's added. Repeat those steps by hitting add again...and entering the other register and data info, and click ok, Close the program and you'll be prompted to restart. On your next startup your register changes will be in effect, and remain that way permanently until you change them or remove them from WPCrset.:)

Sorry for a dumb reply, but what can be achieved by changing those values? and might it cause any harm to the motherboard and or the pci devices?

Brandon:)

Welcome to the Xtreme Forums:)

Those values Hardass mentioned are to enable the HALT command on the KT-400 chipset motherboards. What HALT does is allows your CPU to go into full idle when not doing any intensive tasks, thus giving a good drop in idle temperatures.:)

Thank you Mr Icee :)

What values would I need to use on my KT 333 Abit KX7 333, to make it idle a tad cooler?

On the KX7-333R, 92=E8 works splendidly:)

I see the starts of a good sticky:)
Maybe if you get the chance, Randi, you go write up some of those values on the boards you're familiar with. Do you know what the values are for either my K7d master or A7m266??? :)

Tweaked!,

If the K7D Master is a KT133 board, try 52=EB...see if that works.

And as far as the A7M266, I believe that's an AMD chipset and if so I don't think there is a halt-command for that...could be wrong :)

The K7d master is a Amd761 chipset.

Ahh....was thinking of another board I see :)

I don't think there is any halt-cooling hack for boards w/ AMD chipsets...hopefully someone will proove me wrong ;)

The program must have more uses than lowering idle temps, no? I mean, I've seen tons of registers. Everyones talking about them, what do they all do?

Is there a KT333 PCR file to use with WPCREDIT?

Cool!

Every time I change the value I get a hard lockup. :(

BTW, KT133 Halt-Cooling _should_ be 52=EB

what can I change in WPCREDIT on my Gigabyte GA-7VRXP KT333?
I saw that MrIcee had changed something on his MB for his memory? Can you go higher in fsb using something like that?

Hello all. Yes another one has become infected with the sickness. Two questions.. I have the MSI KT133A m/b (6330-r). Where can I get the CPUCredit program and does anyone know any good settings for cpu idleing or bandwith timings? The MSI board has always seemed a little conservitive compared to my friends Abit and Asus KT133A boards. PLus my stick of CAS3 PC133 doesnt help....Thanks!
