Northy and 1.75v+ vcore question.

Hi all,

I heard about eletromigration in P4 (northy) if you use vcore above 1.75v (real). Someone tell me if i use 1.75v+ vcore, in a few months my processor will die, lose stability at o/c'd speed at first .

IS IT TRUE ?? How about yours, what's your vcore ??

Well I've heard it is true, I always try to use 1.75v's or less.

Intels official white paper on the Nortwood specifies the use of 1.75v's as maximum.

I use 1.6A @ 2.7 Ghz before, run at 1.85v about 4 months. I sold to my friend and the cpu still running nicely until now, no problemo at all.
But i read a lot of thread about eletromigration in another forum.

Anyone here have an experience about this ? Anyone killed his northy at 1.75v+ ??

I did not kill my processor but I ran my 1.8 @ 1.85v for a few days for testing and overclocking. Before I could prime at 2451 highest no problems everytime. When I went back to 1.75v for everyday use I noticed I could no longer prime at 2451 (and get errors in 2433 occasionally..). I've tried everything, including burning in the CPU again and again, and still no go. While this does not sound significant, I only ran my CPU at 1.85v for about 2 days, it worries me about what could have happened if I ran it for extended periods of time.
