I'm wondering if it does matter what brand of chip you use?

I'm looking for a winbond chip for my infinity mainboard as a spare chip if there something goes wrong.
My local electronic shop can't get hold on those winbond PLCC chips :s.
And I've seen there are different producers for that kind of chips (Winbond, SST, PMC Flash, Atmel).
So is it possible to hot flash for example a SST chip with 4Mbit memory?

Cheers :toast:,

I'll let you know about the PMC/Winbond thing asap.. using my a7n8x to hotflash my infinity soonish... or was it an SST chip on the asus? I forget...

As long as they are the same size (or large enough to hold the BIOS) and all the pins correspond correctly I dont think there should be an issue that way.
