What blocks are easy to insulate and ready to go for a Chilled unit?

And yes i know they should be all metal of some sort.

what system? for amd64's since they have the wide 2 bolt pattern are abit tricky but still easy. Otherwise the 4 bolt amd/intel blocks are easiest I think on the swifty side. But none are really hard to insulate. the fun comes in when mouting them after wrapping them. And insuring you have proper clamping force. With my style of wrap block twice mount and then wrap again has worked well for me.

twice depending of course on the thickness of material used.

Ok so what about swiftech for INTEL

Im asking beacause it looks hard to insulate with the weird block design than a maze4 which is just a rectangle.

my personal experiences have been with the dangerden products. I do agree the swifty's look hard to proof due to thier shape but you'll find alot of the products used for wrapping block are very conformal(easy to shape).

Ok so what would you use to insulate swiftech blocks?

I'd use a several wraps with the FrostKing Pipe wrap tape. secure that down with a wrap of eletrical tape. Not real tight then install the block and do another wrap or two with either more FrostKing or some Aramflex. And secure that down.

This is why I havent removed my blocks and mobo to get the mobo vmodded. I have an excellent seal now and dont want to fubar it. Hehehe but I could get alot better oc if I had some vmods. currently at 2.819 stable @1.7 vcore and 2.8 vdimm

Very nice :)

And i would be able to get this stuff at home depot?

yup both the aramflex and frostking wraps are in the water heater section by the water heater insulation

Im still not sure what to get because i heard that swiftech is getting new blocks?

These are their newest blocks: http://sidewindercomputers.com/swmcforinpe41.html

If the block has a lucite top you must find out how low a temperature it will handle before it cracks. Some of the cheaper blocks arent actually made of lucite but a cheaper material and will therefore crack at lower temperatures.

You mean higher temperatures....

No, I am talking about using a liquid chiller capable of low minus temps, lucite is good for down to -90C I think? Is that right? Some cheaper waterblocks dont use lucite and cant handle very low temperatures...so no I dont mean high temperatures.

yeah at high temps the cheaper blocks top can soften and warp and make you lose tension on the cpu but thats pretty darned hot I'd imagine that the cpu would be dead long before it got hot enough to mely lol

So neg temps doesnt matter on lucite tops?

And i was thinking of getting the new block there the MCW 6002 and the other two by swiftech for the NB and GPU unless they made new ones of those...

Oh and do i need a better pump than the ehiem 1250 for the mixture?

Im not sure and maybe someone can confirm it but Im sure lucite is good until -90C....not entirely sure though so dont take my word for it.
