Anyone have any input to the new styling of the v1000 by lian-li?? I like the layout it seems to be BTX "styling"... Just curious on other peoples opinions.

I don't like it at all, everything is upside down in that case.

I've got the v1000 with a blowhole and window mounted on the right side of the case and personally I find it fantastic. Cools better than my 12+ casefan raidmax and much better than a friend's P160 from Antec as well. I dont particularly love its looks, but its a compromise. The upside down feature takes advantage of the BTX layout, which is basically just ATX turned upside down. My old raidmax had a large 120 mm duct on the processor, but I dont have plans to put this into the v1000. Processor temperatures are lower than they were with the duct anyways.

I cant hear my Raptors, thank god, since they're in a completely sealed aluminum section of the case, and they're still well cooled. My temperatres from my PSU never waver - in fact I had to turn down the voltage regulation on the Truecontrol 550 I have there. The 18" sata cables I have a stretched to their limit, though. I cant reach the lowest disk drive slot, and the disk drives farthe left are out of the question. I'd recommend some 24'' sata cables for the v1000.

I'm wondering though if attaching a Cooler Master Stacker cross-flow fan to the v1000 would be a viable option, needless to say I'd have to take the fan out to mess with the disk drives, but it does sound like a nice addition. It would add to the v1000's lack of an intake fan. (the 120mm hard drive fan's airflow doesnt reach the system. There's no reason to turn this fan up on the rheobus)

hope that was informative, and I may have pictures by this monday.

I am pretty sure I will be building my next computer based on this case. Thanks for the 24" sata cable recommendation stuff like that you just dont find available. Might make it a linux server and leave my shuttle as the gamin pc :)

Its pretty quiet, strangely enough. I sometimes forget to turn the fans down at night when I go to sleep, its quite quiet. I wonder though, if there were ways to make this case cool better than it already does. I'm so uptight about modding this case - seeing as that it operates so well with so few fans, I keep thinking that adding a side fan or a duct would somehow make the computer worse.
Currently all I have ideas are for a cooler master cross flow fan modded into the side of the case and a duct to the processor. Would these be benificial to the design? I figure the case is already as ugly as it can get :p:

This must be one of those cases ur either love or hate, personally I love the case design the closer it looks to the g5 the better, i love g5 styling.. However there is the V1100 or something that is basically the same except black and has a front door on the front suppose to be even quiter =/

This case is very very nice. I'd be interested in learning how to change the fans in this case. What size (mm fans) should I buy to make it even quieter! Panaflos? Recommendations ?

But my only gripe was setting the PSU in the case (it was a little tough (Might have heen the design of this whisper quiet enermax 470W)

And when I installed the Sk8v asus Mb, it did not properly line up with the motherboard spacers. I had to forcefully position the risers with my fingers while screwing the motherboard in.

Thats my only real complaint about the case. I think it looks cool and is decently quiet with the stock fans!

:p:

the quality of this case is astounding. I'm absolutely stunned.

jesus, is my old computer really that horrid? It looks good when you dont see it atleast..
I'm not done with this thing by any means... if anything, I still want to get the cables nice and neat. You'll notice that I've already switched out the crummy stock fans that come with the case.

Ive got the bigger bro...the V2000.

Very well crafted case, some of the best aluminum ive every seen and them curves are something to die for :slobber: I even love the likke jaggy edges are the side panels.

I love the HD racks and the little casters.

The only thing ive got against this case is that i have to figure out how to put watercooling in this thing.

Oh and one other thing, the locking tumbscrews at the back are genius idea, can stop people from taking the sidepanel off :p:

You defo need 24" SATA cables or 24" / 36" IDE cables for the HD's.

AFAIK, Im one of the first people to have the V2000 in the UK :D

Wow, Bennah, that thing is incredible -- and incredibly huge! How much was it?

Also, are the lower drive racks removable? My first inclination would be to remove the second column of racks, closest to the PSU, and mount a rad there.

Ubermouser
06-19-2004, 07:03 AM
you can clip them off on the v1000, but they're not -removable- per say. :) I see the second hard drive rack as a mounting space for the radiator, hooking fans and brackets to the metal rigging.

EDIT- Got my temperatures of the computer STILL WITHOUT cleaning up wiring, etc--
My room temperature is at a constant 29.8-30C flat.
case temps are 30C! *with all fans on high* (36C all of them off)
Cpu temps - 33C Idle. Load: 39-40C load. (50C when cpu fan off)
PSU temps: 34C Idle, 39C load
Northbridge:30C Idle, 32C load (Swiftech northbridge kit)
Motherboard: 30C Idle, 34C load
Gpu: 39C Idle, 45C load
In comparison to my old 10+ fan oldie (4 in front, 3 in back, 2 on side, 2 120mm on top) which gives Idle temp 37C Idle, 48C Load.
Astounding.

Yea as Ubermouse said, the sliders that the HD's go on go off but not the actual vertical rack holders.

What 120mm fnas would you guys recommend me buying to replace the stock fans. I want something quiet @ low speed (when Im asleep) but something that can put out some good cfm but not too loud when I crank them up?

Ubermouser
06-19-2004, 09:46 AM
I have antec 120mm clear fans. They can really pump the cfms when needed, but are quite quiet.

They pump about 85CFMs are 29dba loud.

Nice cases you guys have.
I personally love the V2000, specially with the 2*120mm fan placement, and lots of space for HD's..

bennah :
Tha Papst 120 mm (4412 F/2GL) is pretty quiet. Blows 55 CFm at 26dba. At 7V, I almost can't hear them. I have 3 of those in my PC70.

Bennah

You got a link to them? What fan controller have you got them runing off?

I love the V2000 but it is way overkill for my requirements unless I did a WC setup then it gives you tons of room to play with. What are the longest SATA cables you can get?? With these cases I am sure that 24" may still be less then desirable depending on your routing???

Jupiler
06-19-2004, 09:03 PM
1 meter is the longest I've seen so far. Should be more than enough.

Bennah

The cables from the K8N-Pro are just barely long enough, I will probably need some 36" ones atleast, also I need some 36" rounded IDE cables so I can hook up my benching drives.

I think i'l end up getting them papst fans...now to finding them on a site that they can be ordered from ;)

I was looking at the V1000, and modding it for watercooling, and figure you could do the same with the V2000. Just drill out the rivets for the vertical bar on the hard drive rack that is closest to the front of the case, and you should have enough space for a chevette heatercore. Either that or Dtek sells those junior heater cores, that are the size of a 1200mm fan and still perform very well.

I have an Antec P160 right now and love it, except for the fact there is really no where to mount the rad internally. If I drill out the hard drive rack, I will have no where to mount my drives. I ended up building up my P4C800-E and 3.2C just so I had a way to use this case, as I just love it. Unfortunately my benching rig, and watercooling are still in my old Chieftec that is just growing real old and cramped. The P160 is a few inches longer so there is more room to move around isnide. That and the 120mm exhaust and intake, plus the "pull" out motherboard tray, it is no contest.

Anyway back to the lian li. Great case with possibilities. Just not sure why no removable motherboard tray!:(

The Lian Li v1000's installation on my part was foolproof, even without a removable motherboard tray. It simply isnt needed with this design of case.

I think the ideas are nice, but the exterior styling, urrgghh. They should make a PC65/75 version of it. It would look much nicer.

wookie
07-06-2004, 01:20 PM
They exterior is what makes it unique. Otherwise it would just be another Lian-Li with a different interior. I really like it but will probably hold onto my Chenming for a little longer yet :)

Get an X800 before I go for this case.

Theres plenty of space in the PC65 for water cooling or TEC, and PC75 could house a tiny phase changer with the extra space at the top and bottom.

looks great, but like any other lian-li....EXPENSIVE.

Does anyone know if you can use the v1000 on top of the vapo ls? Would the hose be long enough? Thanks.

I will be ordering a V2000 to build my new performance rig. I'm confused by the statement about cable length though. What does 24"/36" mean.........that 24 inches will do? Or are longer ones needed?
Given that you're in England, wanted to make sure we werent talking metrics here. Thanks.
