My psu atx header got cut off (dont ask how.. in involves a lan party and some stupid people), and I soldered it back on according to this diagram
http://www.bleedinedge.com/guides/psu_3.3v_mod/psu_3.3v_mod_pg3.html

my question is: are all the red wires the same, and all the orange wires the same (and black)? I may have gotten mixed up and put a different black wire where another one was before.. is that ok?

Yes, it should be as simple as that I believe.

GND is GND regardless. Same as the other wires.

Try it in a old board first if you can.

Was there BEER involved in this LAN party? If then answer is no then you need to insert some ASS KICKING in the next one.

This thread is a bit old, I ended up buying an atx extension cable, cutting the end off, and soldering it onto the wires from the psu. Just solder the black to black, red to red, vsense to vsense and it workes fine, well at least it did for me. I also modded my +12 and +5v while I was at it (now all rails are modded) :D
