Alright, which is the best, i'm having a hard time deciding here. Cosair is alittle more spendy then the Geil so unless you guys can give me some reason to go Cosair I think i'll get some PC3500 Geil. Thanks alot.

edit: Oh, this is for a 512 DDR stick, thanks again.

I just RMA'd a stick of 3500 Geil for only being able to run at 181FSB maximum even with relaxed timings and 3.1v(since it wouldn't even run with 3.2v). I tried it in 3 different mobos without much of a difference between them.

Maybe I received a bad stick... maybe not.

Simple answer:

Read all the threads in this forum, along with the 3dmarks forum, and look at what just about everyone uses, and the timings they run at.

Corsair. Period. :D

Alright, guess i'll get some of the fast timing pc3200 stuff off newegg. I'd get the 3500 stuff but it's alittle to steep on price I think. Well, maybe I will, I dun know :D

Can't go wrong with either...I'll just be sitting back +jealous with my little ol samsung ram :(

I haven't tried Geil but my Corsair XMS2700 runs up to 172mhz cas2 and up to 200mhz at relaxed timing.

Get over it, Geil has nothing to do with OCZ:D

Geil is not OCZ.
XtremeDDR is not OCZ.

I should have some corsair in the works soon. But for now this Geil maxes out at 482 MHz on my IT7. It does 3D at 470's. This is with 3V and 2-6-3-3.

I think right now the Corsair is the way to go...specially on an AMD setup. From what I've read, the Geil has only proved impressive on Intel rigs.

Didn't notice this was for AMD. I would go with Corsair. I wouldn't get PC3500 though cause I don't think its worth it since most typical AMD systems don't do 433 MHz that easily.

Well, this IS for a P4/it7 combo. Thanks again.

Hehe then GeIL will work pretty well. OPP had some good results with his but I think he uses his mushkin cause it runs pretty fast even with some lightly agressive timings. I can only run the GeIL at 2-6-3-3. Anything more agressive and it will give me a bsod once I get in.

Corsair has always been pretty good for me too though but like I said I haven't gotten to test the 3500 sticks out.

Oopsie...saw the AMD rig in ur sig, assumed it was for that. My bad ;)

Many Intel users praising Geil right now :)

Just FYI, the "bad" experience I referred to above was on an AMD system.

Mono, it depends how high I can go, the 2.8 P4 I was using was limited to 172 which was around 230 mem speed, for this I used Mushkin 3200 which ran at 2722 timings. On the other hand for higher clocks I don't know if would go as high as Geil.

What P4 are you using??

I'll be using a 2.4b with an IT7Max (first version, not the max2 or whatever)

For the record:

OCZ....stands on there own

Geil and OC-System....these 2 are affiliated or one and the same

I have had great luck with my Corsair XMS 3200 C2....but to be honest and despite all of OCZ's controversies...I have a stick of their PC3200 cas 2 and this stuff runs right with the Corsair right up to 226Mhz Cas 2, 4 way, 2-5-2, Que depth 2 and 2T command at 3.25v. It has the copper heatspreaders and is one hell of a stick of ram for the money IMHO.:)

I got two sticks of OCZ PC3500 stuff, I'll let you know my results as soon as I'll have my cpu unlocked. I think that corsait is the ram to go for p4 systems because it reachs high fsb while on amd rigs you cannot easily make them run on aggressive timings (especially 1T command) because of winbond chips. OCZ PC3500 should use samsung tcc4 chips which maybe don't go so high but can keep 1T better ;) Just my two cents :)

I have been banging away at my two new sticks of Corsair pc3200 C2 and I am XTREMELY disappointed. I cannot get either stick to run at 190MHz no matter what timings or voltages and I have been burning in and being patient (something I am usually short of), I am really pissed because my Samsung pc2700 would run 188MHz maxed timings and I cannot get this Corsair to run 188MHz 2-3-6-3-3 2t. Unfortunately I already sold my Samsung because I needed the extra dough to get the Corsair. I was excited when I got it because I heard the v1.1, which I got, rocked and could handle a lot of volts. If I RMA the stuff, I'll be without a system for over a week.

I must have terrible luck. I cannot believe the performance you guys are getting and I cannot bust 190MHz. :(

Jeff

I know it's a long shot but have you tried the middle memory slot? I can run a little bit better in that one but I really don't think it'll help you go from 190 to 215. :( Bummer SPQQKY.

Very nice scores. I have a 2.26 that will do 195 so I guess I can do some testing with that one. I hope to see some good results like yours.

Are you running both sticks at once, if so try them individually :)

SPQQKY
10-12-2002, 01:31 AM
Nope, ran individually. I talked to MrIcee and he says this stuff needs serious burn in, like a couple of days of high volts and gradually upping the MHz, unfortunately, I cannot do that because this is the only puter in the house and is needed for other things, such as my wifes work. Damn, I need a better job so I can afford two systems. I need a bigger house to put the two systems in. :p

MrIcee

SPQQKY:)

You're running 2 sticks of this stuff?? That explains part of the reason you're not having good FSB results with it initially. Most of us clocking it high are also only running 1 stick:)

Nope, ran individually

Check it out my friend. I only run one stick at a time for OCing/benching.
