Do you think these blocks would work for a chiller setup?

I just got done making my new waterblock for the 9800Pro. I’m going to use ½� ID tubing. The area inside the tubing is (pi*r^2) = 0.19635in^2 I made the area the fins of the 9800Pro block is 0.125(distance between fins)*8(fins)*0.3(height of fins)=0.3in^2 So my block has about 1.5 times more area than the ½� tube. So the velocity of the water in the waterblock will be less than the velocity in the tube, but with the extra surface area the waterblock should have better heat transfer. The velocity, flow rate, and surface area all play a role in how effective the efficiency of the waterblock. I’m going to use a high flow pump so I wanted the blocks to have more surface area because the flow will be more laminar than turbulent which will also affect the efficiency of the blocks. I made the NB block have a area of 2 times larger than the tube to help with flow loss do to it making two 90 degree binds, and I didn’t want to increases the backpressure on the pump. I don’t think the NB needed a waterblock but since I was making the others I build one. I’m working on the design of the CPU block right now. You can see in a few of the pictures the first on I built. It will be in the line up for testing against:

4. Cascade (If I can find one for testing)
5. D-Tek Whitewater
6. Aqua Joe Gold
7. Innovatek XX Flow
8. My design

Let me know what you think of the blocks, and if any of you think I should test a different block post what should be added. I forgot to tell you the last 4 months I’ve been working on setting up the testing of this waterblocks here at Iowa State University. From what I understand the only company out there that can test these block properly is swiftech. Bill Adams at swiftech does all the testing for them. I believe on of the other company is getting the equipment needed for testing of the blocks.

The block where polished by hand on polishing wheels down to 0.05 Microns, then by machine to 0.005 Microns

I have some of the CPU inside and top, but I can't get my ftp account to open from home so I might have to go back to school to post my results of the testing.

I'm also looking into making a few to sell also, but cost might be high on them.

My block, each fin is 0.75" tall and 0.05 wide with a 0.045 channels. You can see in the last picture I tried diffrent insurts in all the channels to find the best combianition for cooling.

Yes, they will, the block has one large flat surface on the bottom. I made the mounting hard ware just like the Aqua Joe mounting hardware, so I have what is needed for the AMD chips with the mounting holes but if you wanted the Socket 754 and A64 you might have to buy new from Aqua Joe. I think it cost around $14
