So if i have a good mix for the water chiller and have anti-freeze and such would i need insulation?

How do i get my cpu temps to -25?

Would i need a coolant temp of -50?

Thanks

If your cpu, goes below room temperature, chances are you will definetly need insulation because at that point, it starts to form condensation.

I chilled 15-20 degrees below ambient for about five months without any problems, depends largely on the percentage of humidity in the air.

Well i live in California for the summer then school comes and it is to Canada

Call your local weather service and ask them what the highest expected dewpoint temperature is in your area. That is the temperature at which condensate forms. Then again, if your room is air conditioned, the dewpoint is lowered.

This is a good point that Gary brought up... my house has central air conditioning which helped me to chill below ambient without moisture problems.

So the question is that would i need to insulate or not and how would i go about idle temps of -20 or somewhere close.

Well my R22 Ac Chiller does -35 with no mods, but it has never seen a heatload yet so I have no reference yet, but if your coolant is about -30 is not hard to guess idle would be around -20-25

Oh very nice!!! I thought i had to get the chiller to about -50 in order to get -20 to -25 idle. Well i assumed this because the Direct die has fluctuating temps but i gusse this is water and it is pretty stable temps like a HSF or something.

Your dewpoint temperature is probably close to the temperature of the air coming out of the A/C, which is usually about 55-60F.

If you chill your water below this, you need to insulate in order to avoid condensation. It should be kept in mind also that insulation improves performance, so it is a good idea to insulate anyway.
