"for troubleshooting and advanced startup options for windows, press f8"

What can i do? I tried going into recovery and doing fixboot, bootcfg /rebuild, & fixmbr. Plz help. I really do not want to format. How can i fix it???:brick:

I need more information.

Do you have Windows XP? (What OS do you have?)

First back up all the data by connecting the HD to another computer.

Try pressing F8 and selecting safe mode and see if you can boot. Never had a problem like that. It may be a problem with the drivers/

I have xp.

I dont have a drive big enough to save what I need so I really don't want to format. I cant press f8. It freezes at that screen. The only thing i can think of is the boot sector is messed up.

make a boot floppy and stick fdisk on there. then, run it with the mbr switch. i cant remember what the switch is tho. but theres one which clears the mbr, so you can reinstall windows.

Thanks, but I got it working now. The repair in the windows install fixed it. But thanks :toast:
