Okay, just built a new system recently, looking for more speed already. Been outta the loop since I started working. Can someone update me on what's new since the 2200+ came out, and what is looking to be the best of everything for the end of the year?

The XP 2800+ - 2.25ghz was recently reviewed and wasn't so bad. The 2400+ has just hit stores and sells for 200.00 Newegg. Prices should drop dramatically over the next months. Although he XP2800+ was reviewed, it won't be out in stores for quite awhile. December I'm told, but it could be earlier or possibly later. The 2600+ should very well be out soon. When the 2400+ was out in 34 (I believe, something around there) stores, the 2600+ was out in one and so it should be very well be out soon. The 2600+ and 2800+ should be very close in performance and I'm guessing as time progresses, steppings will progress and the 2600+ will be a better overclocker than the 2800+ just as the Athlon XP 1600+ today overclocks equivilant if not better than the 2000+ - 2100+ but it's actually better due to high FSBs.

There's a thread in this forum: http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=3562 which shows how well AMD is currently doing with revising these T-Breds. Those Sandra MIPS (CPU Benchmark) scores beat Intel P4's at 3.2 GHz.

Interesting... is AMD going to release a 333Mhz Bus chip like I was hearing? I've got a 2200+, was gonna try and wait for the Hammers, but I dunno, seeing as they are set for Mid 2003...

The 2700+ & 2800+ both utilize the 333MHz FSB.

Cool, about how far off is the 2800+? And how far off is the next chip after that? Btw, that's the Barton with 512 L2 Cache, right?
Also, when is the nForce2 due out? I was thinking of getting either nForce2 or KT400, but I think I'm leaning towards nForce2 at the moment. Locked AGP/PCI is sounding real good.
RAM... What's the best out now and what is due out about the time of the 2800+ and nForce2?
I'm also looking at a Mitsubishi 22" Monitor that can do 1600x1200 @ 109Hz... The DiamondPro 2070SB-BK. Anyone know of anything better?

If AMD is still sticking to what they said the Bartons will have 512K of L2 Cache but AMD doesn't really benefit from L2 Cache like Intel does in their P4 from Williamettes to Northwood. However you should be looking into the SOI that the Barton will have (Reported even). It will only use like 40watts of heat and less power consumption.

I think you should go for the nForce 2 which should be out around November. Dual DDR should come out soon too so the demands for DDR will go up and probably their prices. The KT400 is no different from the KT333 just it has AGP 8x which is causing problems with the Radeon 9700 and possibly a problem. Plus locked PCI and AGP so nothing will stop you from going to like 250FSB except for RAM and all.

KT400 has locked PCI and AGP? And will nForce2 have Dual Channel DDR? I'm not worried about AGP 8x at the moment, but I will be when the NV30 comes out. Speaking of which, any estimated release dates?

As for the Bartons, what is the SOI? And like I asked before, how far off is the 2800+ and what else is due out around that time?
Thanks
