ok tu use block with plexi?

my friend is bought a new prommy and he's willing to give me a maze water block, the only problem is that they use plexy tops, can they handle 24/7 minus temps (around -30)??

i dont think so but.... maybe someone did it

no, take it off, and braze or weld on a copper or alu top

yes. it practically is d-die, as -30 is pretty close to a mk1.

Go to DangerDen site and email them. You can buy a copper top seperate for the maze, it isn't listed on the site as a single item, but it can be done. I did it, thats why I know. I think it was somewhere around 10-15$.

I'm not sure I understand the question. Are you asking if the water block can be used as an evaporator for the prommie?

I think he has a waterchiller and his friend gave him a dangerden maze waterblock when he got a prommie and now this guy wants to use the block with his waterchiller.

exact... its a simple liquid chiller, im just not sure if plexi can support minus temps 24/7

As I understand it, plexi can withstand -40C 24/7, but I could be wrong on this.

yes its lucite(i think), but i just made a test... i'll take it but i wont use the lucite top.

i took 2x 4inchs by 4inchs 1/4 lucite i had from my aquarium top i made this winter, and placed one in the freezer for some hours, the one at room temp i had to use a hammer to break it, and the one from the freezer was an easy break completly cold and this is only at around -10C. My guess is, it could make the job but might not be 100% safe.

it should be ok to -30c like gary said.
some people on this board have had their maze3 w/ luclite top to about -40, but I wouldn't push -30 if you want to be safe.
your best bet is just to get a copper top, don't push your luck :)

I had my maze3 w/ luclite top to -25C without a problem.

well, if theres a risk, i usually dont do it, at the price the hardware is... theres no room for error. Well.. not with my current job. :P
