View Full Version : WaterCooling Case

I would like to know what Watercooling case do you use? I use a ThermalTaker Xaser III Full Tower and it is crowded and I have to put my Watercooling equipment outside the case.

I have 2 cdroms, 2 hardrives(raid), 1 acrylic resvoir, all 5 pci card slots are used, 1 floppy, Einheim 1048 water pump, JR-120 120mm Chrome rad, asus p4p800 deluxe motherboard.
I would like a acrylic window and a case that can take the power supply from my thermaltake xaser III(I think i have a antec true power 450w). I want a case that can fit all these :D

Can anyone please find me a case? I heard that the Chieftec is a replica of the Thermaltake Xaser III series?

Wow John, nice post... I'm impressed :D
Try out that new Lian Li that has the stainless steel refirgerator "look"..........and if that's too pricey....check out he chieftec/antec/chenbro/chenming series of clones, they're big and roomy for all your stuff

Is it true that the ThermalTake Xaser 3 full tower series is just a regular Chieftec full tower with the bells and whistles?

I personally dislike Lian Li cases for some reason.

Aopen H700B came close to my needs but doesn't have acrylic window, so it gets ruled out

Also if there is hd bays in place where the JR raditor should be, it should be easy to remove and still have enough space for atleast 4 hds. Can you find me this dream case?

The Antec P160 looks nice.
Full alu, and seems spacious enough for a WC setup.
Price is OK too, 110$

Jupiler, I have no idea how to remove the drive bays on that case to fit my radiator.
Charlie, Juplier, ocmyface I'm guessing you all watercool. What case Are you using?

Jupiler
05-17-2004, 01:04 PM
I'm using the Lian Li PC75.
Love the case, lots of space because it's very deep, almost 60 cm (don't know how many inches that is).
Case is pricey though.

John Cena
05-17-2004, 01:13 PM
How much is it?

sandman
05-17-2004, 01:17 PM
Like $220?

I use this case: http://www.cooltechnica.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Session_ID=520fc9ee41ca49ce6e526838c5 a1a3b3&Screen=PROD&Product_Code=CF1006&Category_Code=S-Cases

Works well, you can put a BIX right on the back 120mm fan. No modding required. Course I put in another rad and painted the inside, but it's the easiest setup ever.

Charlie,

Very nice case man! Is this just a up coming case that's not yet released or could you post a link to a site selling these?

I could forsee what that beauty would look like in the dark, with it lit up inside.......OH yeah.

Best of all the dropped the external 3.5" bays. If you still want a floppy it goes in a main bay. Which means you can make real use of that bay. 7 external main bays.........wow.

Craig

John,

If you buy a hole saw set, skill saw & dremel you'll be well on your way. And all the above will cost no more than a good motherboard. Then you can custom make any window you desire.

I've a Lain Li case also, the PC76 server case........huge......but d****d expensive. Think of a case about on par with the PC70 or PC75 but 2" wider than they are.......but also more $ as well.

While also very expensive the mountain mods cases are the finest I know of .......for about anything. And you can get them set up about anyway you wish.:D

Hi Charlie. I just got one of these V2000's (aluminum) from Hampton. The PS is on the bottom and the MB mounts on the reverse side as normal. I'm going to have a window cut in tomorrow. Hope they don't mess it up. ;)

I think I'll still keep my water in my external case though:

Your mid size Lain Li is also a good choice, no qestion, depending on the amount of stuff you want in it.

But a full tower or server Lain Li case can hold a huge volume of gear.......and still have very free air flow. Same is true for a Mountain Mods cube, or any full size cube for that matter.

Dual loops desired? Extra PSU for TEC's? You want 5 blocks in that dual loop? 4 HHD? You say you'd like to line it with sound deadening foam? NO PROBLEM with a cube or PC70, PC75, PC76 or PC78 case, they can all take any, or all, of those space eaters in stride.

That's what leads to big cases.;)

BIGGER

CASES

ARE

BETTER

http://www.netbetty.com/H20/cube/outside/back.jpg

That is: 4 HD's (can take 9), 5 5.25", 13 fans (not including PSU or NB), 2 D-Tek Pro Rads, 4 shrouds, 1 Iwaki MD-15R, 5 feet of tubing, 2 12" cold cathodes and I am running out of room :D

Craig,

Charlie's dream case is a Lian Li PC-V1000. Anand did a review of it a few weeks ago http://www.anandtech.com/showdoc.html?i=2040 . The psu and hds have their own partition seperated by a panel on the bottom while the mb and cds are up top.
and fwiw, i fit my wc setup inside a lian li pc60, but it is a tight fit.

3)Whats diff between PC-70 and PO-71?
4) Will any of these be a tight fit or have big space?

Btw, Inside the power cord, there is a red wire(positive, a black wire(negative), a green wire(ground) right?

slavik
05-23-2004, 05:06 PM
They are all the same case!!!

PC70 ... the base case!

PC71 ... PC70 but black

PC75 ... PC70 but with the factory window riveted in

the PC75 will usually run 30USD more than the PC70.

I also noticed that my PC75 has holes on the bottom of the PSU cage ... no cutting needed :)

Chemistry has to be the easiest subject in the world. I was in honors chemistry and it was easy. Now Honours Physics is hard.

My new plan is to splice the wires of the pump and an extension cord and run it through one of the pci slots.
Connect them both and put serveral rounds of electric tape around it, then teflon tape, then glue gun. That way I will maksure Gilbert doesnt get elecuted

Hey fareastqq.
Is that the Lian-Li PC75B?

Where do you keep your radiator? And did you mod the top to get those 2 fans there?
Looks nice.

Here's my new Lian Li V2000 case, slightly modded.
I'm also gonna replace the 2nd (black) cdrom cover with an aluminum flip open bezel like the top one. Water stuff is still in it's own custom window case next to it.

I finally tracked down a case that I can fit all of my watercooling stuff into:

http://www.cox-internet.com/weapon/images/reszda1.jpg
It is a VPS/IS telecommunications/voice data cabinet with all the com gear removed. To get the size of it into perspective, that is a 4 bay midtower in the lower left of the pic. the big silver box on top of the cabinet is the rack enclosure for the power supply (Lambda Industrial WattBox 1500w). It is full 19" rail width but double depth....now that i think about it, I can fit all of my phase change stuff and all of my watercooling stuff into it. :D

moving right along -

the Lian Li PC70 is great for H2O cooling because of the depth of the case - even if you hate the way they look, you will love the amount of room from the front to the back of the case.

wow even thats small lol

Okay I finally fitted everything in and close and sealed up the case

Now I ran 2 Clients of Folding, DVD player, virus scan, 3 mozilla browsers, aim and etc for half an hour

My cpu load temp is 35 Celcius
and my Case/Northbridge Temperature is 41 Celcius.

Are these good temperatures? It won't melt the tubing right lol?

Ill take pics of it as soon as my webcam decides to work

It's small, powerfull, and doesn't make a sound. I love that pump.

System specs?
No, the tubing won't melt, no need to worry.

Pentium 4 3.0ghz 800fsb C series.

It says on the tubing 145f or 165 f is max temp

4th pic link down is a pic of the rad. It's just a bixII zip tied to a shroud, the bolts you see on top of the case are the bolts that hold the shroud in place, Yeah, it's a pc-75B, I measured the area of the shroud and just cut fan holes on top. Using warm system air to cool my rig but it's ok, temps are still great and everything is in the case.
