Is there an ideal voltage/sweetspot for pelts? Currently running swiftech pelts on my cpu and vid card

The "sweetspot" is determined by the cooling you have.

If you can keep the hot side cool, the cold side will get colder.

A lot of people suggest running a 16v pelt at 12v but that is only because at 16v the pelt puts out a lot of heat. Only really good cooling can handle it. If the thermal output is too much for the cooling method, the hot side will get hotter and in turn, the cold side will get hotter.

What's the average delta of a TEC? 40*C?

The delta T of a peltier junction varies with the rated Watt output. Some 226W pelts have a Delta T of 70C!!!!

That's insane. Now I see what you meant with your "sexy, sexy temps" thread :)

I run/ran my pelt from cooltechnica @ 13.8 and it does a fine job.(no current temps because it's not on any cpu's) Ratings below:
Maximum operating temp: 125 C
Imax = 24 Amps
Qmax = 226.1 Watts
Vmax = 15.2 Volts
Delta Tmax = >67 (C)
Size = 50mm X 50mm X 3.10mm

My 226w TEC likes 13.2v. Although it can be run up to 15v, there's definitely a decline in peltier efficiency beyond a certain point for me. Most of it has to do with my H20 system's cooling capacity, but the TEC itself becomes less effcient at higher voltage.

So it all depends on what you've got going on in your system. Rule of thumb is the higher the better (ei closer to 15v), but there are diminishing returns to consider.

But in the end, I'd get the best PSU you can wrangle and shoot for more than you need just to be safe. If you have great cooling, a PSU closer to 15v will help you.

Thanks for the responses everyone. I guess a little experimentation is in order.BTW i have a 30 gal waterchiller so initial cooling is not a problem.

So do you take a dip in the morning to "freshen up"?
