I think I may have a problem. I overclocked my XP 2700+ to 2.4ghz last night. It ran fine at 1.75v all night. My temperature was about 45c so I tried dropping the voltage.

Now when I boot the machine it starts and will run for 5-10 minutes then I get ;

STOP: 0x0000009C
"MACHINE_CHECK_EXCEPTION"

And it reboots. I tried reseting all of the defaults to normal and tried setting the CPU to 1.0 GHZ. Same thing.

Did I fry something?

Your overclock is not stable.
Run Prime95 and see if it is stable. Make sure your memory can keep up and check the timings and also make sure you have the pci/agp lock enabled.

On my Athlon XP 2000+ oced to 1.8ghz, it would fail prime after 20 minutes or so.
I thought that wouldn't make an impact.
That week, my Dad was using it for his documents and it kept crashing and crashing and THANKGOD he didn't loose his documents.:)
After I clocked it back the default value, it hasn't crashed since. :toast:
