HEy,

Just say I was to setup a water chiller that would take my temps to below zero degrees, how would my pump deal with this? Would it just freeze and stop moving? Or just crack? How do you guys avoid this?

depends what kinda pump ...a regular O2 pump wud crack ...to prevent this, insulate it with foam (the stuff plumers/builders use to fill in little gaps ...dunno the name). or pumps like a Mag 5? wud handle the low temps.

most pumps can handle it easily, that is, if the liquid's feezing point is well below what temp its currently at.

Say if you used antifreeze, the water is at -20, that would be more than fine for most any pump.

I use a hydor L30 at -5 now and I have never had any problems.

All fine here.

I had me Eheim 1250 at -19C and Keeper had two at -30C. Most common WC pumps will be fine till -40C than they start having problems.
