View Full Version : Brine?

Has anybody experimented with brine as a solution in their chillers?

I was talking to a chemical lecturing friend about possible solutions and he suggested it. It can get as low as -21C and should still have excellent specific heat capacity. If needed I guess you could add a small amount of ethanol/methanol to drop the temp a bit further without lossing its favourable properties.

Any thoughts from people better informed than myself?

Hmm to be honest I have no idea, if so I assume a anti-corrosive additive would solve it.

DaBit tried it. The stuff ate up his solder joints and he had leaks everywhere. You might check out his website. It's a good read.
