I have a Sony DSC-P7 3.2 MP digital camera and my close ups even with Macro mode are crap. Anyone have this camera or ideas on why my pics are so crappy close up?

Do you have autofocus? I know with my FujiFilm A210 I have to turn that off and then hold the button half way to get it to focus on something that close. Once it's focused, press the button all the way to snap the shot.

set exposure mode at Manual and F-number at 3.5. also i'm not sure how metering mode works on your cam but as far as I noticed u have it set to Spot... try Pattern instead

I have tried just about every setting on this camera and still can't get a clear close up pic. Maybe this camera wan't meant for close ups. You would think a $400 camera would be able to take better pics than this.

I got this picture by adjusting my OEV? What the hell is OEV?

The term OEV is normaly known at just EV or exposure value, and to be honest this should make no difference to the focus value at all.

As for macro mode on that camera, when in wide mode you should be no closer to the object than 4"

And when in telephoto mode no closer than 8"

Try taking some shots using those guide lines..

Im no expert on this (even though i do have a national diploma in photogrpahy..lol)

Its been a few years since i took some pics...

good luck

sometimes you have to let the camera focus for a second for macro to work, or focus away and back again, it happened with my old camera, but now i have my 300D :P

Do you have changeable lenses for your cam? Are you using a macro lense? Do you have a small tripod that you can use to hold it steady?
