Quite a mouthful eh? http://www.hardforums.com/showthread.php?threadid=501090

They're going for like $300 and sadly no samples are being given out, I asked :(

Wow!

If this is exclusive Intel stuff, these guys are making the lure of the dark side even stronger.

Seems like an overkill to me. The twin 226W pelts would heat up the water real quick and you will need huge reservoirs and radiators and fans to keep it cool, not to mention the huge PSUs to drive them. My 1.6A does 2.9, and my 2.26 does 3.0, both stock Intel aircooled.

Might as well get a Vapochill or Prometeia.

Yeah he said that a chiller would be optimal. And that if you did a chiller + this it would just about equal vapochill temps.

If that's what he says then it's definitely not worth it. Chiller plus this setup will cost more than a Vapochill.

Remember Randi's chiller? -32C with no pelt.

I must admit that it looks nice though.

Practical....no. Extreme....yes. That's why it's cool:)

I wanna test one out just to see if it would really be worth it. After all, like DDTUNG said there has to be some major heating of the water. I don't thik my 40gal res could handle it even at -27C. I mean after a couple of hours with just 1 226TEC the water temps are at around -18C.

You guys think I should grab one and compare it to my single Eli Custom 220pelt/block?? :D

Like DDTUNG is saying you would need one hell of a chiller to hold descent water temps and 2 PSUs, the only thing that would make the block worth it is if it can out perform a Evap Cooler. Another down side is the 3/8 od fittings. Gabe just can't seem to get over those things, I mean if your going Xtreme you need to go all the way, give the thing some flow!!
I've seen these at Swiftech by the way:D

OPP,
Make Gabe send me one ;). But seriously though. I wanna know how well it performs. I mean at some point its gonna stop getting colder temps and just be able to withstand more load right?

Heh, ask away but he seems pretty intent on NOT sending them out... not even to borrow! I had asked someone who then asked Gabe, and his response was this:

"Gabe has already stated to me and in the E that he is NOT going to give out review samples. I MAY be able to boost you a review piece for LEND. You must return it in the same condition you got it!!!!! And it is up to Gabe but I have some pull with him."

and so then I said sure lending would be fine but then I got this response:

"I asked Gabe today about a loan and he said “NO”, dam… The price will be about $300 but the final product hasn’t been taped out yet so the figure could change."

DAYYUM.

why not make a 4 pelt block then?
and couple it with a 100 amp PSU, all for $700?
and, naturally, the $50 for electricity every month.
extreme? no, cryogenic freezer is extreme.
efficient? no, crazy electricity bills, plus you'll need one hell of a watercooler to serve it.
a shiny new thingy--yes,
not the least bit impressive though :moon:
