Hi guys- I'm gonna be getting one of Gary's chillers soon :D and I am trying to put together a shopping list of stuff I will need to get it hooked up safely and correctly, and of course chilling like a mo-fo.

here's what I've got so far, there are "???"s in a lot of places, hopefully some of the experts here can fill in some blanks for me. I have provided links to pages where this stuff can be purchased, hope it helps. any problems with any of this stuff please post... much appreciated.

now on to it......

cpu block
-------------
I know that an aluminum topped, 2 barb design seems best, so:
dd maze4 or dtek tc4 --which would be better?

chipset block
----------------------
dtek 'FSB' northy cooler with as-yet-unreleased 4-hole p4 mount

pump
---------
Taco cartridge pump???? they are huge!??
any with 1/2"ID that will pump through 40' of tubing???
Grundfos? help? would like something small enough to fit inside chassis of chiller.

tubing
-------------
Tygon R-1000 good to -103F, usplastics
http://www.usplastic.com/catalog/search.asp?search=57260&x=9&y=13
(you may need to click this link twice.. crappy site)

insulation for tubing
-----------------------------
"UV-Resistant Polyethylene Foam Pipe and Tube Insulation" --good to -160C
http://www.mcmaster.com/asp/enter.asp?pagenum=3259

liquids
-------------------
methanol
antifreeze
glycol

best brands/types?
mix proportions??

dielectric grease
---------------------
"Electrical Insulating Synthetic Grease" --good to -50C
http://www.mcmaster.com/asp/enter.asp?pagenum=1988

spray-on sealant
---------------------
I assume this is for spraying parts of the mobo around condensation areas?? -- do I need this???

"Plasti dip" spray on flexible coating -or-
"Permatex Spray-A-Gasket Sealant"
http://www.mcmaster.com/asp/enter.asp?pagenum=3176

seal string
-----------------
3m 2229
http://www.mcmaster.com/asp/DisplCtlgPage.asp?reqtyp=catalog&CtlgPgNbr=3190&sesnextrep=406323022505965&CtlgEdition=110&k1=75735A72&t1=PN

neoprene
-----------------
"super soft neoprene rubber"
http://www.mcmaster.com/asp/enter.asp?pagenum=3279

"Anti-Static High-Grade Neoprene Rubber"
http://www.mcmaster.com/asp/enter.asp?pagenum=3281

do I want "foam rubber" or just plain rubber?
durometer?
thickness??

...of course I am leaving out important stuff like hose clamps, zipties, etc but we all know where to get that stuff. comments?
thanks!! :D

for the pump a Mag5 would be good

but 40' of tubing, ur gonna need something industrial strength

chilly1's thread has mention of a Taco cartridge pump, but not sure how he's adapting the 1" openings to work with 1/2" tubing I guess maybe there are reducers but how does that affect pressure/flow rate.....?

only reason for the 40' of tubing is I want to chill 2 boxes and my window is about 12' away from the computer.

Judging by the temps Gary's other chiller's have been running at would recommend one of these pumps.

If you will be going colder then PM me and I will be happy to help you. I have done a little research on pumps over the last few weeks.

i will help you LuckMan212... if you fly me over to new york.... but seriously, rearangeing stuff seems the easiest and cheapest option to me, if that isnt possible then we have to think of soething else, i would however recomend useing two pumps to help keep flow rate up if you are useing that much tubeing, or perhaps some larger bore tube. one pump could be near the pc's and one in the chiller, or you could always not bother window mounting it and sit it on the floor next to the pc's?

I'm thinking that Taco cartridge pump will be more than enough, even with reducer fittings, but waiting to see how well it works out for Chilly1.

Yes, the Taco is a BEAST! upgrade the elastomer to a silicone o-ring if you are going to chill past -40C.

If you do use two pumps run them in tandem.
