I currently own an Eheim 1250, but I have the opportunity to switch to a Danner Mag Drive 3. Which one is better considering these points:

- Performance
- Overall quality
- Reliability

From a performance standpoint the Mag3 is the hands down winner, it has 10.5ft. head & 350GPH/5.8GPM flow rate. The Eheim 1250 has 6.7ft. head & 264GPH/4.4GPM flow rate. The quality and reliability of both pumps are considered good for what you are using them for.

unless this is wrong, argentina (like europe and australia) has a 220V 50hz supply.

as unlike the eheim the mag only comes in 115v 60hz, you will need a transformer, but more importantly the mag3 will perform significantly worse than its 60hz stats (ac motors' speeds being regulated by the frequency...)

eg. an iwaki MD-15 at 60hz has 3.4M max head (just over 11ft) and 19l/min peak flow. but at at 50hz the same pump has only 2.4M max head and 16l/min peak flow... :(

If both are available to you in whatever native voltage you need. I'd say go with the mag. Only disadvantage I can think of is possibly added heat into the water.

Performance: Mag should win
Quality: Some have complained about a certain piece of the mag3 warping/cracking. I've had mine somewhere between 8 and 18 months now and have had no issue with it.
Reliability: Same
