156W pelt with dedicated PSU, Is there a prob here?

I have a 156W pelt on a dedicated psu.

The pelt is spec'd at 16a at 14.4v, when I try to run at 12v 13.3a, the freaking rail drops to 9v. The PSU is spec'd at 20a on the +12v.

I measured the rail using a MM on a seperate molex connector. When I unplug the pelt. 12.5v, with the pelt plugged, 9.xv.

My question is, how can I help this problem? I know that adding a Amp source in parallel will increase amp potential, but can you help me.

I have a 550W enermax for the Pelt and a 400W antec for the Computer.

I can use extra power off of the Antec if nesscessary. Thanks

Try and put a load on the 5Volts, hook a bunch of 5V stuff to it and it should raise your 12V

Okay, definitely works.

But now i need to create something that can have that current draw, I had it at 12v for a little while, but then the pot started stinking. :)

Ok, now The voltage is a 11.71v :p.

But there is no difference in cooling ability. What is the explaination of that?

The Expalnation is that before when the voltage was low the hot side was cooler, the cooler the Hot side the cooler the cold side. Now it's getting more volts so it has more power to suck up watts but the hotside is hotter, the hotter the hotside the hotter the cold side:D

I did figure that out as I was testing it last night.

When I was installing the pelt, I was so concerned with condensation proofing it, that I forgot that my waterblock (Cyclone 5) was not entirely flat on the bottom.

There is a small chance that I was able to put the pelt right on this spot, so chances are, part of the hot side of the pelt are not in contact with the W/B at all.

I will fix it and update you soon. But, off to work now. :)

Ok well, I think it is working nicely now.

The "System2" temps are the water temps.

Do not be fooled, these are idle temps only. :) Full load is around 20C or so.

I use 2 100ohm 10W resistors on the five volt to get the 12v to 11.3. Will add 2 more tommorow.

Oops, looks like the link does not work.

It was a screenie of HW doctor with a 5.5C CPU temp. Still much more impressive than the 15C I was seeing before.

Very good job will! Using a much larger 226W pelt i was only able to get load temps down to 12c , idle temps were as low as -10 though. Nice to know that other people are enjoying the effects of peltier watercooling assistance :)
