Hello all, I'm Pedro Rocha, from Lisbon, Portugal.
It is a honour to post messies in this Forum

Just finished to mount a new mobo and 2.8 CPU on my Prometeia adapted with one Lian Li PC70 - my PromeLI

Very good results with Abit IT7 Max2 without any vcore mod for CPU - set at 1.725 in BIOS (1.66v to 1.70 real).
Please note that with the new C1 stepping the standard voltage is 1.525v.

Can run at 3550 with 3:4 ratio = 225FSB - DDR450, only if I put AS3 and extra-cooling on the chipset.

Welcome Pedro...... and very nice o/c !

That is sure one TALL computer you got there. I have modded my Vapochill to fit the LianLi PC 70 and have ordered a Prometeia to keep it company.... Actually I want an AMD setup and a P4 Setup as well. Can The Cooling section of the Prometeia fit into the upper section of the LianLi ?? If the Vapo fits up there wouldn't the Prometeia? I have seen the prometeia modded to fit in the LianLi pc 60 for the top and the compressor to fit in the LianLi PC50. ie: 2 Lianli cases screwed together.

Yes, Cooling section of the Prometeia fit into the upper section of the LianLi, just cut the hole in the right place (see my pictures)
I have the PromeLI normaly with the side covers, fits very well.

No way - Chip-con ApS (Prometeia manufacturs) are very clear, the compressor must be at a lower level in relation to the CPU - gravity is part of the game.

Better check the Manual here at Chip-con Support Page (http://www.chip-con.com/manual.asp)

Pedro,

Here you go, this is the best this 2.8 of mine will do with a Prometiea, had to use 1.82 volts, very unstable:D
My chip does run Rock solid at 3622mhz though, with 1.74 volts.

The best I can do with my 2.8 is 3.706 but only need 1.725v (1.66 to 1.70 real).

Rock stable at 3.685 !!

I think I do not need to do the vpin mod with this CPU :)

This with IT7-Max2 with IT7-Max I suspect I will do little less.

OPP are you using the Max-2 or Max(1) ?

Pedro, did you actually made any changes to the previous Prometeia setup you had?

Cause now you're running this CPU at -24º, and you remember the previous 2.4b was always at -10 or worse...

Is it only the CPU, being the C1 stepping the great miracle for the masses?

Hello my friend Morcego,

Nope, no mod on the Prometeia, just a lot of seal-string and very carefully fitting up the head of microfreezer.

Maybe is the C1 stepping, but I suspect is more a problem of inaccuracy of the motherboard readings.
Maybe, tthe Max-2 thermal sensor is less accurate than the IT7 - or more accurate, who knows!

Last August, Martin Goldmann (from the Support Department of Chip-Con ApS) send me this mail abou the accuracy of the motherboard readings, I suspect will usefull for all Prometeia users
Surely, Martin and the rest of the fantastic support Chip-con support team (the best I ever see in the computer business) don't mind if I share his mail with all Prometeia users in this forum.

"..

We do not put much weight on the temperatures reported by the Motherboards BIOS or by temperature measuring software such as Motherboard Monitor. In our experience, these temperatures are highly unreliable, and may differ by more than 15-20ºC from actual temperatures - especially at the extremes of their measuring range. If you want more accurate CPU temperature readings, you should place a high-quality probe on the rear of the CPU core, and connect that to a high-quality thermometer such as a Fluke 54 II or similar.

For what it's worth, the great difference in temperature you measure between idle and full load, does seem to indicate that there is a somewhat higher than normal thermal resistance between Evaporator and CPU core. This can be caused by bad thermal contact between Evaporator and P4 Heatspreader and/or between P4 Heatspreader and P4 Core. Reassembly can give you an idea of how high thermal resistance between Evaporator and Heatspreader may be, but won't tell you much about the thermal resistance between Heatspreader and CPU Core.

We have experienced as much as a 0.2ºC/Watt thermal resistance between Heatspreader and CPU-Core. This will give a temperature loss of 25ºC between CPU Core and Heatspreader when burning 125Watts of heat. Additionally, if you have a thermal resistance between Evaporator and Heatspreader of 0.1ºC/W, the total temperature difference between CPU Core and Evaporator will be as high as: 125W * 0,2ºC/W + 125W * 0,1ºC/W = 37.5ºC. If the evaporator is at -30ºC, the CPU will get as high as +7,5ºC - quite a difference!

Now I just need a better cooling for ATI, only goes up to 360:335, any suggestions ??

I'm speechless !!!!!!!!!

You should have a very good 3d mark score with the ATI at that speed..

Tom, I see you are from the same country of the Prometeia and Vapochill manufactures - the Phase Change Country.

Nice country for overclockers, also lotsa of beautifull womans there, to bad you have the higer VAT tax in Europe, apart from that will be the perfect country.;)

Any other less radical suggestion??

I will try some extra-fans over the ATI, but my PromeLI is now so noiseless ..well ...no pain no gain..

Hi Pedro,

A fan on the backside are a good idea, and ramheatsink:

default ram speed:
330

Not seriøs benching with the Peltiermod yet. Just finich it yesteday. There are a lot of heat from the 8 Peltier. As you can see I have the same Prometeia as you -and IT7, P4@2.80

The Danfoss factory that make both the kompressors for the Prometeia and the Vapochil is 30 km form here. The next projekt is frekvensmodifying the kompressor from 50Hz to 60-70 Hz. Its a facht that the Prometeia to US going 110V /60 HZ are a little better than the 220V /50 Hz in europa. It might be possibel to go 220V /60 Hz and get more cooling and or stability....

Hello Tom @ VapoLand:-)

What kind are the ramheatsinks in your photo?

Do you think that remove the cooler just to place Artic Silver will help?

Well I hope that someday Chip-Con release the Prometeia II, with 2 microfreezers - 1 to CPU / 1 to GPU :-)

only 640x480, working at 1024x768

The problem is, that the peliters generate a lot of heat close to the DDR ram, so it's only stabil at 168/224

Hello Tom:

Are you using a Cooler & Artic Silver in the Chipset ?

The cooler and AS3 in the chipset helps a lot with high FSBs, only after that I can achieve 169/225 100% stable.

Have to buy additional cooling for the ATI to pass 365/335 - with that vid card speeds my 3dmarks score is "only" 18.200, even with CPU at near 3.600 and DDR450

Even without peltiers around, the heat on the memory sticks and on the motherboard components is really a problem, I measured (with thermal probes) temperatures around 55 º C (!!) in the motherboard when running full load at 169/225.

I think we going to need 2 additional Prometeias, 1 for MB components and the other for Vid Card ..

I hope you can suggest that Triple Prometeia to your fellow-countrymans from Chip-Com :)
