Hey guys im thinking of making Waterblock to fit my Radeon 9600 pro ram. I want a fully watercooled system so why

Any got any designs as i have to combat the following waterblock:

Not worth it. Ram sinks are more than enough.

Well i might as well make some attempt. Its probally not worth it but hey a learning experiance.

Theres about a 15mm gap from the the barbs to the ram chip.

:stick:

focus your time and effort into something that will actually help your oc.
if you want something kicka$$ to do, watercool your mosfets or tec cool a copper plate that covers your gpu and ram.

I thought it was Sayaa but than I saw he just recently got WCing. Someone here water cooled 25 watt or so pelts on their Ti4200 ram. They used like 1/8" tubing...

Kommando,

I've a thread @ TX regarding a site in the US that's carrying some EU water cooling parts. One of the up coming releases of new stuff they are going to have is vid card RAM. I don't know if the ship international or not, but worth a look. Should be good for some ideas.

yea, i probably know that shop - didn't see / read the thread yet, though ;). anyway watercooling your gfx-ram is overkill - it won't do much good. and if you can replace the barbs on your gpu-block, you might want to use 90° barbs. should help you with your tubing and possible ;) waterblocks for the ram. what's the layout of your card anyway? L-shaped memory or 4 in a row? the later is easier to come buy. the L-shaped layout offers more points to fix the waterblocks to the card tho.

That's a Fusion water block he has I think, the barbs are built right into the top.

That's the only thing I don't like about that block, it's a real good one otherwise.

Edit:

And as cards keep getting faster and hotter, memory coolers will give increasing gains. Most of all the ones in this next series that use DDR 1, those will be some hot little puppies.

Still, some good air sinks should do.

I think L shaped memory i have.

Yes this block barbs are a problem, you have no room to pur any decent ramsinks on :(

Oh well, ill think about it further on.

Deviant PC, a british site had a couple of superb projects where they watercooled a Ti.4600 and a 9700Pro, including RAM...

...unfortunatly the site has now disapeered, and this is the single picture i have been able to find showing the rear side of the TI.4600 project:

It was truely a stunning design, shame it is no longer viewable

I'm getting a mate to mill me up a block where the barbs are normal going up...

Cucumber,

That is a pic of a set up milled by a guy who uses the nick "BladeRunner", his gifts are great when it comes to designing and milling water blocks.

His site. www.zerofanzone.com

Tried to make a prototype block.

Ill fix it up with my brazing torch, instead of a heavy duty soldering iron.

yea, those are the one that are sold over here, but 130 bucks? holy shiat... here (http://www.wassergekuehlt.de/Shop/de/dept_8.html)'s the shop that sells / builts them over here. 80 euros which would be somewhat around $90-100. still crazy. i doubt a 9600 card is worth that type of cooling, after all these ramsinks almost equal the cost of one such card... nah to expensive if you ask me.

Im just gonna use ramsinks now and have a 120mm fan blowing over card like the Zalman op1.

But ill continue making experimental video card memory designs.

Stay tuned, la la la.

If you don't make them yourself you may wish to look at the ones ate svc by OCZ, they are skived copper and only 9mm high. Should offer the best cooling for such limited space. Do you have the Fusion HL to get the best clearance? The SL is much lower.

kommando

Yer i ahve the HL, it gives about 14mm clearence, so the ocz ones shall make it.

Wouldn't it be enough to just drill a hole trough a block of copper, connect a few of them up and put them on yur mem? (so whitout puttin a top on, this only makes it more difficult)

I think so cos memory doesnt get that hot that it needs complex chaneling.... So this way is much less hard to do, and is less ambitious but effective.... to get it pretty like you the pic above is nice but not very neccesary

In my opinion cos just sinks are well enough anyway but i understand that this is just 4 fun.

But if you want them really cold a sugest to use a large coldplate and tec too, they'll be frosty :D

No one knows where the Ti.4600 project pics went do they?

...that was really impressive
