Hi Matt,
Install the Intel raid drivers, leave your HD on the SI controller,and reboot.
After rebooting, power down, and switch the SATA cables to your ICHR5 controller.
Reboot.
Should be working fine. Had no problems after changing from my onboard SI3112 to the ICHR5 controller on my IC7-G.
Last week, popped in a HPT SATA controller on my P4C800-E, installed the drivers, rebooted, changed from onboard Promise controller to the HPT, and XP booted nicely.
