When prime95 will give errors...can the error also contain memory or chipset instability?
So when it gives an errormessage it won't have to be the cpu that is failing?
Am I correct?

Pretty sure memory can as I know I've gotten errors in the past when I was sure my CPU was plenty stable...just I had pushed my memory too far :)

Hopefully someone else can confirm my findings.

Another thing I found with Prime is I could run it on win2k for hours, and run it on the same rig with win xp and it would stop with a error within 1 min.:(

Prime is awefully picky with my overclocks aswell. I've taken more of a liking to SuperPI recently, running 16m and 32m tests.

well @ 220 mem, i could loop 3dmark, pcmark, sandra everything... except prime.. it would just run 1 test and just then fail...

weird

if it wont run prime, it aint stable, and ur seti results will be corrupt and have to be done again by someone with a stable pc.

win2k will usually allow slightly higher clocks than xp.

If you can't run Prime 95 for at least 24 hours, your s_ _t isn't stable.

Solved my probe..after some tryings i could run prime but with CPU set to Cyrix, after trying diffrent versions and few registry cleaning i can run it with CPU set to P4..it's running for 5 hours now- stable so far ;)

NoStra,

Yes it has a lot to do with unstable and badly timed memory.

I have been in situations where 3dmark was stable, 3dstudiomax was stable, games were stable, OFFICEXP was stable....but that *stupid* prime program failed after 3 tests.....does that mean my pc was unstable even though I could use all the other things yet this *1* p[rogram failed so therefore I must proclaim my pc unstable?

Prime completeing the 1024K test, the first lot that goes to 50...if it passes that, then I declare my pc stable....:)

how about running prime and folding at the same time?? that'll tax your cpu heh.

Actually if you run Prime and F@H togeather folding won,t move because Prime takes all the cpu cycles.:)

My prime crashes, too, although superpi and RC5-72 (something like F@H) run perfectly stable...
I'll do some other tests, I think I found some good 24/7 settings now...

Prime is more stressful if run by itself.
