...... on Intel's finest ;)

where are the days you'd have to struggle to get this on LN2 ... now a Prometeia will suffice. Mind you, this is definately as unstable as it gets. I can do pretty much everything I like in windows, but to get it to boot I had to crash it first so the CPU cooled down during scandisk ;) 1.74Vcore btw.

Still makes a nice screenie :)

Nice OC JC!
Worked hard for that OC this night JC? ;) Is this your first 1 Ghz OC?
What is the speed you can run 3dmark?

first 1 Gig OC, are you crazy ? :D
Did 1.6@3200 (1.6 G overclock) , 2.26 @ 3.28 (1.02G overclock) , 2.4B @ 3400 (1G) , 2.53B at 3515 (1G minus 18 MHz) and now this one.
3D works at 3750

Libertate : voltage seems to be useless on C1 chips. 1.70-1.75V and the party's over.

Just read the review on Hexus on the premium Vapochill. I have ordered a prometeia though. ;)

Hoping it lives up to the great reputation the Vapochill has enjoyed. I still have 2 vapochills.

Nice o/c JC:toast:

I guess there will will be no need to voltage mod for the C1 stepping.:)

When can we expect to see some 2.5 c1 chips in North America?

That chip should do as well as any of the c1's including the 1.8
with the S-Spec of SL6LA. Wondering what a 1.8 will do on an IT7with the cooling of a Prometeia ??

I had a 2.5 C1 sent to me from the USA bout 2 weeks ago... hasnt gotten here yet tho...

Sorry...I was drunk when I posted that...I was crazy indeed hehe

I'm working on getting myself a 1ghz + oc on my 2.26B hehe. Gonna ram 1.85v into it as soon as I get myself a new PSU. Maxing @ 3017mhz @ 1.66v right now @ -8.5C. With the new PSU I will have a better rail on the +12, so hopefully the 226w pelt will run better and thus, better temps, better overclock. Time will tell.

Also, while on the subject of voltage. If I have the 2.26 cooled to like -10C or lower, it's alright to run at 1.85v for a long time right? Or is 1.85v for a long time not a good idea?

You are running a 226w TEC off a PC PSU?

JC, can I join you? :)

Unstable at that speed, Vcore set at 1.775V in bios, so 1.75 actual. I might try a "one timer" 1.85V and try a 3DMark.
Prometeia cooled.

That's an affirmative. Off a crappy 300w enermax w/ like a 16A +12 rail! :(

Im not sure if ive got an unusual board here, but my IT7 really starts to heat up running over 3.5G. Can get up to 3.55ghz using default voltage, but over that the voltages start spiking up and down so I have to raise vcore to maintain a minimum on the low spikes. For example - 2.8b @ 2.8 using 1.725v bios (1.67v actual) voltage variation is between 1.66 and 1.68v. 2.8b @ 3.7Ghz using 1.725v in bios voltage is between 1.61 and 1.71v. All the power mosfets are getting literally red hot (measured the lowest 2 next to the cpu at 72c) and the clock generator isnt much cooler (63c). Just heatsinked up the whole board using tweakmonster copper ramsinks and am waiting for the epoxy to go off to see if it makes much difference. My actual voltage lines have hardly changed (3.3v is still 3.31v, 5v is still 5.21v and 12v has gone down from 12.03v to 11.97v), but im gonna have a bash at tweaking them up anyway. Looks like a good chip though - ive seen 3.96Ghz on the post screen ;) (though it wont go past a post :p). Im hoping with a bit of a steadier power supply that ill be able to take a piccy of a 4ghz post ;).

I must say the prometia's doing very well. At 3643mhz (173 fsb / 230 mem - the memory sweet spot) @ 1.64v actual temp under bios pc health screen load (around 80% afaik) is only -17c.

Bit more info later when ive got everything tweaked up.

Wont be any stellar 3dmark scores as im still using the Ti4600 (waiting for the rev 1.3 radeons before I rma) and im not overclocking it (its already sold - no risks :p), but I should get a decent score for a default clock Ti4600.

Worked a treat!

Voltages have totally stabilised. Its much better than before for undervolting - Vcore is only about 0.02 - 0.03 below whats set in bios compared to around 0.5 - 0.6v before (on all cpus ive used in this board). Voltage variation is now 0.01v under load. 12v line is now up to 12.03v without touching the pots.

Gonna test again for cpu stability now. Back in an hour or so.

Will take a few pics when im all done.

Strange kettle of fish these C1 stepings...

Totally stable 3496mhz @ default voltage. Every 40mhz above that needs an extra 0.025v right up to 3800ish where it just stops dead.

All the heatsinks helped my voltages loads - its a much happier board now. Think its stabilised it for 236mhz memory as well which is a nice little bonus.

PiLsY,

any idea when the 1.3 rev 9700's will be available. I am waiting for my prometeia to show, and if I hold off for a few weeks mabe they will become available.I live in Canada for gods sake, I should be able to get one direct from ATI.

looks like i better start placing heat sinks all over as my 2.8 will be here tomorrow (hopefully) cheers pilsy m8 for the forewarning

PiLsY

The places you want the heatsinks are on the 4 pairs of mosfets next to the cpu socket, the clock generator just above the agp, the large mosfet above the AGP and the large mosfet to the right of dimm slot 3. If youve got a little heatsink knocking around theres a small mosfet between the agp and dimm slots that gets a little warm, but nothing worth making any huge effort over.

It seems like the more you warm reboot the worse the voltages get. A straight cold boot and the voltages are rock solid, after 15 - 20 restarts though theyre all over the place.

The rev 1.3 boards started shipping from ATI Monday just gone (23rd) so should be in retail by around the 1st october. You can tell the revision by looking at the part number code on the ati sticker on the back of the board. Itll look like this...

P/N 123456789 123456

The revision is highlighted below in bold :

P/N 123456713 123456

Obviously its 11 for rev 1.1, 12 for rev 1.2 and 13 for rev 1.3 (and so on).

Hey Toofast,

Are you coolin prometeia style or do you still have that Vapochill?

I've replied to a few of your posts at overclockers and the Vapochill forum.

Nice overclocking JC and PiLsY :)

Ive had to rma my it7 and are on a POS p4b533 and omg its the worst board I have ever touched....voltages SUCK.....I can only do 153 in 3:4 mode stable at any timings and any volts.....im getting desperate here and my IT7 isnt even being rmad till Monday....:( And I have this nice shiny 2.66 here that I can only run at 3060 instead of 3300. Might take it over to my friends BD7II later today...:)

Spose it will make me do some study for my exams nextweek :D

I too have ordered a Prom, in the mean time I'm ordering all my new hardware for it.

rad 9700
it7
samsung ddr
westdigital 80gb
2.66 p4

Also ordered an xp2400+ which should be here Tuesday.

Going to be a fun week with tons of new hardware.
