Diagnostic software

I have a competition monday run by skillsusa/vica, which basically entails fixing an oem system running win98. I am unsure of what is going to be thrown at me, likely both dos and windows problems. Can anyone reccomend any diagnostic software (preferably free) or random tips that could help me out?

If it's missing a driver and you don't know the device name, you want Unknown Device Identitfier.
