Where did you get it from ?

Give it a bit of a clean, check the fuse, make sure all the wires look Ok.

Is it doing anything, making any noise at all ?

TDF.

can you take a picture of the temperature control panel where you adjust everything

kommando

here.

kayl
04-07-2004, 05:39 AM
thats not what you have it set to when you turn it on is it
try first dial say 5
second know (turn to most right position)
and the third dial does that say timer?
and the last one i think is the vent system shouldn’t really matter

also what noises can you here when you plug it in
maybe it powers on (here the click) but turns off straight off cause drawing too much current or something like that

My ac unit is working, just a bit of flickign around with the switches and it worked. Im now waiting for it too cool down :D

kommando
04-22-2004, 11:10 PM
Oh crap, it gets frosty for only half the evap then loses its frost :(

Gary Lloyd
04-22-2004, 11:48 PM
Did you remove the evap fan?

kommando
04-23-2004, 02:10 AM
Yes, all the fans have been removed.

Gary Lloyd
04-23-2004, 04:20 AM
It needs the condenser fan, but not the evap fan.

kommando
04-23-2004, 04:27 AM
Oh okay, ill remount the codensor fan back on, but one of the fins has broken off :\

Will that caust any problems?

And i don't think the fan works, can i just like a desk fan type thing over the codensor?

Getting somewhere at least :)

Çhrist0ph
04-23-2004, 01:00 PM

Yes, a broken blade will cause problems. A desk fan is better than no fan.

04-23-2004, 04:25 PM
Which one was that?

Back on topic, half of the evaourater has become frosty :D

kommando
04-23-2004, 04:29 PM
DAMN!

All the frost went away, despite having a huge desk fan covering 2/3 of the condensor.

Not my day!

Gary Lloyd
04-23-2004, 04:39 PM
Is the desk fan also blowing (or sucking) warm air through the evaporator?

kommando
04-23-2004, 08:24 PM
Its blowing nice air on. I noticed the ac unit has switched itself off when the frost goes away?

Maybe some sort of thermostat.

Gary Lloyd
04-23-2004, 08:35 PM
Sounds like some sort of thermostat to me.

kommando
04-23-2004, 09:22 PM
How would i got about removing it?

Gary Lloyd
04-23-2004, 10:16 PM
First you need to find it. The sensor will be on the evap. Follow that back to the control. The control will have a couple wires going to it. Connect those wires together.

kommando
04-23-2004, 10:20 PM
Okies thanks for that, can't i just cut the wires :D

Reflex1
04-24-2004, 02:37 AM
too much talk ...we want pix and action :D

Gary Lloyd
04-24-2004, 09:40 AM
Okies thanks for that, can't i just cut the wires

If you connect those wires to each other, it runs. If you disconnect them from each other, it doesn't run. That's what the thermostat does, it connects and disconnects those wires.

kommando
04-24-2004, 04:25 PM
I see, i shall connect them together then.

Pics, well i shall take some.

04-24-2004, 04:41 PM

Lookin nice. When do you expect to have that chilling a machine. I just bought my 5200btu maytag unit today. I am gonna start a thread tomorrow about it probably...I don't have anywhere to most my pics though...

kommando
04-24-2004, 05:04 PM
Im not sure, my motherboard is going through the rma proess atm.

Im using the XS.org upload a picture feature to host my pics.

Ill remove the thermostat and then it should be all sweet.

Its a bit big so i don't know wher eim going to put it...

I'll also probally buy another window air conditioner that can fit in my case that i've built :)

kommando
05-02-2004, 08:50 PM
:cursing: i don't see no thermostat :(

kommando
05-02-2004, 08:51 PM
Only 2 lines going into the evapourator......

kommando
05-02-2004, 08:52 PM
The compressor shuts down after maybe 20 minutes or so of run time when the whoel evapourator gets frosty....

kayl
05-02-2004, 09:44 PM
mine could be found where the controls of the airconditior is located. on the back of the controls there should be a wire that extends and goes to the front of the evaporator.

kommando
05-03-2004, 12:42 AM
Well on the front it has a switch could "timer" maybe that could be it?

Gary Lloyd
05-03-2004, 01:43 PM
No, what other switches do you have?

kommando
05-03-2004, 09:53 PM
Temperature, Fucntion, Air Exchanger, Timer.....

I foudn another ac unit for 25 bucks which i might buy...

Gary Lloyd
05-03-2004, 10:10 PM
Temperature is the thermostat.

There should be two wires on the back of the thermostat. If you connect them together it should keep running.

kommando
05-04-2004, 12:14 AM
Okay will do this weekend.
