I downloaded mandrake 10 community release CD's 1,2+3. Burned them onto disk but it wont boot from the CD :(

I have tried Rawrite to copy the cd-rom boot image to a floppy, with which it boots off of the floppy, gives me the install screen for linux, but when I click install it comes up with an error.

Any ideas on how to install?

Thanks, Anarki.

Are there fingerprints or dust on the cd?

It definitely sounds like the CD burn went wrong.

Linux is no different from any other OS at the CD level - a bootable CD should just boot.

Almost sure that you cd has some problem, try to burn other cd or download linux again and burn, you know how internet is your first file could be corrupted, try other cd.

How did you burn them to disk the first time?

I'd bet that it's fingerprints or dust.
There have been times I installed linux when it'd lock up temporarily because of fingerprints on the cd. So I would have to take the cd out and clean it and it'd work fine.
