Qtec 550W PSU fan mod.

I wish to mod the fans in it to make them a little quieter any ideas on what to do? The standard connector used is a two pin fan header type with a red and black wire.

Would striping a few strands off of the red wire mean slower running speeds? Its just that I have no resistors to hand and I want to do it in the next 2 hours :)

Red wire is hot, black is ground. Hook em up to a fan bus, full control is yours... same as you would any fan...
