I have a Antec 550W Truepower, i noticed it has the sence line running to one orange (3.3) wire, One red (5v) and one yellow..12v

Dose that mean i can just connect my 20k pots to them to pod all my rails?

how do i do it?

No, for the Antec you have to solder a fixed resistor inline first.

Grab either some 47ohm or 60ohm fixed resistors (or any value close to that), then snip the sense lines where you want to. Cut out about a good inch or so out of the sense wires after you snipped them...be careful not to take out to much. Then solder a fixed resistor between the cut lines. Now, add a wire to the top of the fixed resistors leg...that wire will go to the middle leg of you 20k VR. The top leg of the VR should have a wire that is going to whatever ground you are wanting to use. You dont use the bottom leg of the VR period...just snip it off to be safe.

Be sure to set each VR to the max resistance before soldering it on. That is a very important step. And, you can use 10K Vrs here as well....and most likely 5k would be fine also...but use whatever you want.

Just do that for each sense line and you are in business.

Dont forget the Search link at the top of each forum as there is a wealth of info here. ;)

Here is a thread with pics of mods on the exact power supply you are asking about.

Hell-Fire,

Just wanted to check wit ya on what you set the VR's to before doing the soldering for the 550w Antec mod...

I know I can look up the original Antec PSU mod thread but I thought I'd ask you here as I'm hoping for a quicker response...

I've lost all my write-ups for my old 550w TP & can't remember what to set the VR to before doing the mod...Especially for the 3.3v rail...

I remember setting it to something like 220ohms & then doing the soldering, am I right??

If you can spare the time, please let me know what your VR's were set to for each of the mods...

Set all VR to max resistance & then adjust/lower the resistance right??

I got meself a replacement 550w TP to do the mods & have totally forgotten the mod...silly me

TIA,

Yeh, you are on the right track pretty much.

Set all the VRs to max resistance before soldering then into the loop is the standard practice. You can of course set them to any value you choose, but that may keep the psu from powering on due to overcurrent protection kicking in.

Correct, lowering resistance will increase the voltage across that power rail.
