why?

1. they cost more than they're worth
2. they often take up more space than really needed in your rig
3. you can't fold them well to try and tighten the slack
4. more than two seems gaudy and too fugly along with water cooling.

in all honesty, i liked them for a while. but now it's just a fad i'd like to see die. i'm going back to the old school flats because they're easier to hide and don't suffer from the rare [but still can happen] data corruption, or my problem, the motherboard not recognizing a hdd that was listed just a minute ago.

and for those of you that say, "but, the airflow!" i roll my eyes at you. thread it behind the mobo (which to me looks WAAAAAAAAY better than a million cables and wires in front of the mobo) or you could fold the flats so that it's even THINNER than rounded cables.

yeah, i'm being a cranky F--ker, but the more cases i see with water and round cables, the more i wanna rip em out.

anyone else jumping back on the retro bandwagon?

Never owned a round cable, much easier to fold and tuck flat cables completely out of the way. Flat makes for better airflow than round, if done right.

I don't use ribbon cables for ANYTHING, they suck. Round is where it's at, and at $1.50-$3.00, how can you complain?

I love Rounded Cables, just make it whoel heap easier to acces other cables without grey things in your way.

Pic is my bench setup, nowhere as neat as it can be done, in fact it's quite messy. But, *nothing* in the way of the board - great airflow - and nothing in the way of access to any component.

Yer but you need to do a bit of work to get airflow right, with rounded cables you don't need to get much done...

yeah, sata would be nicve, but there's no mpx boards with it ^_~ and i'll be dead in the ground before my main rig becomes a single cpu system again [this includes gaytard HT intel chips].

AHH, I see. I have Sata in one of my rigs and round in my other. I have some nice black asus flat cables that I'm kinda looking forward to folding. I think I just might.:D

Even with SATA you need some IDE cables though, for the CD/DVD drives, much to my annoyance. :(

true... the one great thing about the old school ribbons is you can fold em anyway you want and completely conseal them in the case. My rig gets so hot inside right now because all the damn round cables blocking airflow. I'll swap em out soon.

dunno with the round cables, I just tuck them behond the drives and such so they are not even seen. To be honest though I could care either way. I got a HD and floppy round cable with my IC7, so I didn't have to buy them. Well I did get one round cable for my optical drive but you can't really see that one either.

since most motherboards coem with round cables these days, i stick to round cables :)

ive tried making my own ghetto round cables from ribbons, and failed miserably haha
