i never have seen this waterchilling forum, very good :) let's post some pics :D

i'v maded this waterchiller @home with a friend, for a friend :)

i used a 7,5g danfoss compressor charged with r404a, a 5L reservatoir, a hydor 700l/h pump, 50/50% water and metanol and a custom waterblock :)

the reservatoir are small, so the chiller can put the water @ -30Âșc from ambient temp (18Âș+-) in 1hour with pc idle :), but can'd hold the temperature more than some minutes when the compressor are off,

with the compressor always on, the water goes to -40Âșc and the 2.8c cand do loops of 3dmark @ 4ghz (befour can do it @3.5 with a slk900 and a tornado) :)

here are somes pics :) (yes i know i abuse on insulation, but inside the case there are no condensation :D) and need do insulate beter the water tubes :D

AWESOME JOB MAN! How thick is that tube insulation? Your getting frost on there bad... I think I'm gona need more than 1/3" or whatever when I build mine :p:

Is 50:50 mixture good for -40C? Like does it slush at all? What kind of res is that?

Also, got any pics of the block before insulation?

Nice job. Congrats. :toast:

On commercial low temp systems, 3/4 inch insulation is considered standard.

Hum I've heard you say that. I'll have to get thicker insulation today.

Think my block insulation is good for -40C? 4 layers of pipewrap. Most I could get on there with the damned caps in the way :\

here is the waterblock :)

http://www.techzonept.com/attachment.php?s=&postid=264874

i use 3L of metanol and 1L of water, but some metanol evaporates so i extimate 50/50 hehe @ -40 there is no problem moving this metanol/water with the pump :) and there is no ice on reservatoir :)

Your best bet on insulating a block is to build a box around it and fill it with spray foam.

Hum well those caps are a big problem and what do I do for the tubes? Do I like put smaller ones on there and use 1/2" to 1/2" connectors?

People I'm the owner of the chiller Ricky bilt.

It's in a very good state and performs very well in extreme negative temps!

I thank him very much and now I'm testing it and removing some extra gaz to perfect the system.

Good day and welcome me to this forum!!!! :toast:
