Better flowing intake and exhaust are usually where you start.

What engine does it have? Too bad its not the Impala or you could be sporting an LT1...

Ive been hearing about those, the cop version of the caprice has that. And in the middle east they call the impala a caprice. ANway, I dunno what its called but it is a 200hp 4.3 L V8.

Did you mean 4.3L V6?

Awesome. You got it for free? Is it in good shape? Pimp it.

Put some nice stock Impala wheels on it. The two cars are almost identical. Then intake(k&n), Exhaust (flowmasters), headers, performance chip, clean up the body, don't do anything ricey to it, Change all fluids, new plugs and wires. Um clean up the interior. Maybe pop off some interior pieces and paint them to match the exterior.

And by all means a decent stereo. Thats a decent list to start with.:D :toast:

I almost bought A used under cover cop one. It had the relay still in it to make the lights dance like when you get pulled over!

Uber.

I thought the chevy 4.3l was a 6 cylinder. But I'm sure it says 8. I mean you are the one looking under the hood, not I.

What is porting a head?

Involves enlarging/smoothening the intake and exhaust ports to increase airflow and efficiency, often accompanied by a "larger" camshaft with more lift and duration to take advantage of the increased flow capability.

Oh I see. Does porting a head mean you have to get bigger valves too if the port is bigger?

no, the port is just getting polished, thats +/- 2/1000 mm.

It is sometimes accompanied by using bigger valves too, yes.

Oh I see! so if you just polished it, how much more power would you get?

Soulburner

Well that can't really be answered, because its going to depend on way too many factors.

All different types of engines will gain different amounts of power from it. And normally this power will shift up a bit to the upper RPMs and you can actually lose a little on the low end.

Ah I see. It probably loses on the low end becuase I hear the low end benefits from turbulence in the intake or something.

Think of a hose...the larger you make it, the slower the same amount of water is going to flow through. You lose the water pressure.

Make the passage smaller (like putting your thumb on the end) makes it spray out very fast.

The same can be applied to an engine...open up the intake/exhaust ports in the heads, and you must increase the flow through them to see the power gain (higher RPM).

Which means at lower RPMs it may not be as "efficient" as it was before. I hope this explanation helps.
