Yes I checked it out..

Gearing up to do the vdimm mod and im new to the soldering part of modding ;) I manage a cell phone store and sometimes Id do minor things on pagers and cells.. But not this small..

This is what I picked up for the job..
Rosin Core Solder .05 dia.
Tip Tinner and Cleaner
15watt Grounded Soldering Iron
1k-Ohm 15 turn Potentionmeter
22 gauge wire Solid

Should I have gone with Flux and thinner Solder ?

Im still a little lost to what the flux does..

Also I do have a multimeter (GB Digital Multi-Tester Gdt-200a).. Im supposed to test the resistance before I turn things on and then when its on from the read points..

What do I set the multi meter to when I read it both times ?

Sorry to ask so many questions.. I just dont wana mess it up ;)

It will be some help to people, whether they want to step up and say they used it or not. ;)

You have to learn how...not a born trait.

All I needed was a couple of tips from our members and practice, practice, practice. You need to learn stuff like tinning and a couple other little tips. Look at enough mods on the net and then find chips similar to vreg's (anything with the pretty tight pins) on a 56k modem or similar garbage and your've got a victim.

Thunda the flux makes it flow and stick. That tip tinner/cleaner stuff makes tinning a snap. Never felt I was tinning well the old fashioned way. That stuff you got there sealed the deal and I finally went for something that works... my NF7s, and happily it still lives.
