its gonna look even better soon when those damn radeons get to my door... according to USPS they've "landed" in Belgium but where the f*** they are nobody seems to know... :(

I've shipped a lot to Belgium it seems to have a greater delay there then say when I ship to Hong Kong. You guys need a new system:D

You are right JC. My experience with the 8500 tells me that ATI cards are more fragile than Nvidia. I even killed one myself.:D

Hey JC I hope you didn't get the old Radeon 9700 core. You will be pretty pissed when you have to send them back in order for it to work in 8x agp mode.

Wolf : I dont care that much about AGP8x right now, mainboard doesnt support it anyway and I dont see it making much difference anyway. Pumping up the AGP bus will do fine ;)
I see your point. I would just be a little bit nervous as to what other problems the other core has and if I pay $350 for the latest vid card I want the latest core revision or at least one that will work as advertised. Good Luck man. I can't wait to see how you do with them.

Raptor, that SS was taken before Macci published obviously. good to see he has the time on weekends to update.
I am truely amazed my card is till alive, the day I took it down to Opp we slightly overheated the core till it changed colors. It still works fine. I had my water off and overheated the system till it shut down and the card is still fine...

How do you tell what core you have ?
I don't know I haven't had the pleasure of playing with one yet but go look at Rage 3d forums . There is a discussion over there. I think you can use riva tuner or some program to check the chip ID. Also I heard that the cards ATI is sending out now are the new revision.

How did you get the card to 504? Can you bench default at that speed? I can't seem to get that high but I got bad contact as well as only an 80W TEC. Water Temps were kinda warm today.

its damn cheap, OCs like mad and the multiplier is good for some high speed RDRAM OCing (25x160x4 for instance) ;)

About the R9700 GPU, did anyone "lapped" the shim on the gpu, so that the cooler can be in full contact with it?

Well this new card happens to have the core about flush with the shim so contact is great, I'm useing my 462block and 156 pelt, it's cooled with -16c water. This card will do 500 all day but the memory sucks, 362 is about it without problems. My score increase from the old card doing 448/376 is very little, I think it has to do with the low memory, I think these Radeons will really put out some high scores with the memory at high mhz.

heh, you thought the same as I did :D
ordered a 2.5A last week. Shipped yesterday, should reach me somewhere this week ... Although i'm not sure 160x4 is fast enough to beat 195x3 , i'll check it out anyway... only "problem" is you need LN2 to get anywhere with that 25x multiplier ;)
251$ shipped in the US, for around 300€ it'll be on my doorstep :)
