we both have the ut2004 demo but my fps are 2/3 of what they should be at! forget 3dmark, I own him there but hes owning me in games or at least that game!

we are both using the Omega drivers, his omega is set to quality, mine to performance, making it even sadder. I am not using aa/af!
forget a 9800 pro or any new card, I should be matching his 48fps in 1600x1200 at minimum! I know the game is cpu bound, hes gonna run again with his cpu to stock xp2500 which should no doubt be slower than my tbred at 220fsb and 2.09GHz!

ok, he ran his barton at xp2500 now(1.83GHz)

not much of a fps loss. He just tried 640x480 and got the same fps, proving the game is cpu bound. I get 52fps in 640x480 but drop to 32fps at 1600x1200.

he is starting to take a hit at 1024x768 with his cpu at xp3200 speeds but at xp2500 speeds he gets 44fps reguardless of what resolution he runs at! Thats cause his card is capable of 48fps at high res and his xp2500 isnt! but an xp3200 is capable of 65fps. a barton at xp2600 speeds would reach equibrim with his ti4200. in my case, I start of at 52fps in 640x480 which is understandable, since my cpu is faster than a stock xp2500 barton but not as good as a stock xp3200 barton. I am about halfway in between. but I drop to 32fps in 1600x1200. This leds me to think there is something wrong gpu side. whats worse is my ti4200 is at 340/700 so I should not be losing more than a couple fps from 640x480 to 1600x1200. I dont have aa/af on but I will turn it on and see what happens :(

ctf-bridgeoffate
5.769647 / 19.514902 / 158.928040 fps
Score = 19.561111

2x aa/af proving aa/af was not on. there could be something wrong with my ti4200 somewhere that doesnt affect 3dmark but affects some games. Perhaps a few bad transistors in the core? I clocked my ti4200 down to his 280/530 speed and my fps went down to 27! compare that to his 44fps at stock xp2500 speeds! I am gonna try my ti500 and see. If I match or beat my ti4200, thatll explain once and for all

Why on Earth are you attempting 1600x1200 with a Ti4200 in the first place???

because I can and what you said was not conductive to helping me. I already pointed out hes getting 48fps which is very playable. I should be getting way higher than 32fps!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

who's that "he" and what card is he using?

Your cpu could be the problem. He is using a barton at 200x11 (2.2ghz) your using a tbred at 220x9.5 (2.09ghz). Theres quite a difference there. Have you tried using his cpu in your system?
And is he using 512mb of ram? Looking at your sig you're only using 256 which does hurt performance.

your systems are completely different like masta pointed out barton/tbred 512/256 thats huge

thats not the case, even stock 2500+ barton he gets 44fps in 1600x1200. also another guys ti500 was beating me and hes using 168fsb and 2.1GHz. He says I should reformat. I notice my fps wildly fluctuating so that could be the curlpit

That should prove to you something that's been well-known for a while. Newer games are GPU-bound at higher resolutions. You can tell this by his score hardly going down with a change in CPU speed.

Have you tried setting your slider to quality? I remember a while ago when I had my Ti4200 that it would give me lower scores when I would force low quality on it. Uninstall the drivers, use driver cleaner, and just use default settings. Why would you want crappy, low quality graphics anyway?

Also make sure both of you are testing with the latest, and SAME, driver.

Your results may vary with different drivers.

you realize of course that bartons perform better than t-breds? just making sure... also dont format DEFRAG it can do a bunch for ya at least analyze it and if it is more than 10% defrag.... ut2004 also sucks up a load of memory well not a terrible amount but certainly at least 256 mb... take whas his names ram and try using 2x256 or 1x512 and see if it is better... i would be willing ot bet if you defrages and had 512mb of ram youd be golden....

*edit*
i was looking at the unreal website and noticed that this game is gonna take up 5.5gigs of space :0

Yeah because it also includes UT2k3.

Have you also made sure that you are both using the same in game settings?
