I do not know what is up with the unknown mhz thing but My AMD CPU @ 192X10.5 busted 16k. Shame this 9700 will not do 200 on the FSB.

#1 AMD Score 16014 (http://service.madonion.com/compare?2k1=4466873)

I was so close!!! lol you and your 9700 damm you, lol. very nice I have mine here and I volt/modded It last night lets see If I get lucky and run it on my 200mhz bus.... "finger crossed". myti4600 is far passed maxed out same for cpu and mem(limited by max cpu speed). so I had to get the 9700, but congrat's mr. 1st. to 16k and on to 17k you go, but Ill be right behind you playing catch up..

also you have more than one score on the orb :) you have first you don't need third too, lol.

Hopefully I will get around to adding my mcw40t to the gpu tonight to see how far I can push this card without the vot mod.

I'm going to test my mcw40-t as well. Let me know how yours goes if you do it tonight. I won't do mine until saturday.

I had my mcw40t since it first came out. I can already tell you that it does an excellent job of cooling.

No I mean I have had mine as well. But I want to know how well it works on the Radeon with the way the core is designed etc. I have yet to pull off the heatspreader. I'm just curious of any issues you might run into. Let me know. Good Luck!

I ran a razor blade across the spreader/gpu last night when I applied AS3 for the stock HSF and they looked even to me. The thin coat of AS3 left a nice pattern on the sink. I will see tonight I guess. If I need to remove the spreader how would i go about that? they look like they are made together.

qwerty likes that heatspreader :p

Just leave it on dood, its there for a reason. If its the one I think you mean, that silver bit down near the monitor connectors on the back of the card, then its under all the capaistors keeping them kinda cool....pretty straight forward...:)

Stop stressing about it :D

Marty:)

Excellent job my man !! You always get the most out of your system even when you are at cpu Mhz deficit to the others benching. Congrats to my Dear friend:toast:

Sys and others...I have not been dethroned;)

I have not posted scores because of unfortunate family matters this week...but I can assure you I still have the fastest current AMD system on the planet:) Yes...Marty is correct...on the KX7 the 9700 does NOT like the AGP bus when FSB is 200 or higher...and right now its a toss up of point loss due to 2X AGP or running at 188Mhz max on my system with all bandwidth tweaks including Que depth 2. Again...this is sucking for AMD systems...as our equilizer has been the ability to run high bandwidth via 200Mhz+ FSB and max timings. I am relegated to 188Mhz because of needing to use a multi to achieve highest cpu MHZ. Dropping .5x puts me up where the Radeon will not function.

I achieved 387Mhz core by just removing the factory TIM and replacing it with a healthy dose of AS3. Memory totally sucks and is maxed at 340Mhz. I clamped on my CPUFX GF4 silver plated copper block to the Radeon without issue. I've benched "some" games at 410Mhz in this fashion on just -30c chilled coolant, no pelts as usual...and mind you...I have NOT done any volt mods yet:D

As soon as I'm satisfied with my benching I'll post up a score:)

That's pretty sad that the 9700 Pro wont run over 80mhz agp speed. Dammit, I wanted this card to be good but with the 8xagp problem and the agp bus speed limitation it looks like nvidia has a chance to smoke ATI with the NV30 if they ever get it to release. Plus the memory overcloks are just plain disappinting also. I also noticed when I was playing around with a few 8500 they take to volt mods pretty badly and I even had one actually catch fire in my case when I gave it too much voltage. They aren't near as resilant as the gf cards IMO. Time to buy that Best BUy replacement warranty if you get this card. :D

MrIcee I am having the same probs with my 9700 with the intel machine. I can run it with the 37/74 lock but if I try the 44/88 lock the PC wont even boot...:(

I still havnt worked out how to take off the HS yet. I am still waiting for somone to give me a good description. I use tweezers to push the clips together like a Nvidia card but that doesnt work?

380 with default everything, I am itching to see what she can do modded :D

Nice benching Marty:toast:

Creative...as MBrock said...pull the center pins out of the clips first...once out you can now squeeze the clips from the back of the card and push them thru.Once thru its just a matter of lifting the HSF off..which means a little twist and lift to break the seal of the factory TIM(thermal interface material).

Give it a go fellas if you havnt already...:)

mbrock, grab this version on powerstrip.
http://www.entechtaiwan.com/files/psbeta.exe

No prob whatsoever after 5-6 hours os using, whereas with the previous one, Id lose the ability to OC the core after 2 hours...:)

This one delivers the goods :D

Creative:)

I've been using that Powerstrip beta today...but the highest clock it gives me is 431Mhz. I frigged around with the Rage overclocker and got as high as I wanted...but with both proggies installed , even O/Cing my mem with PStrip was screwing up my memory...lines and all that crap.

OPP...if you're reading this...I see you're getting over 500Mhz on PStrip...are you using Pilsy's method or did you discover another fix?? My beta is reverting to lower clocks like the original version.

Marty...damn nice job my man:toast: You've almost caught me;) I'm needing to get an O/C program that works satisfactorily soon...this PStrip tho the best is still a pain in the arse when you got a card that will clock higher than 431:)

I had to resort to Pilsy's method, good thing he came up with it. Works great for me, my mem is stuck on stupid with or without the Rage Tweak proggy:D

After trying to get a block onto the card I found the core is infact a little lower than the shim so I dont know what to do guys...:(

I dont want to rip that shim off so how else can i get the core to be higher? I dont want to lap that shim either cos all the shavings will fall onto the card......looks like I just may have to rip that shim off...:(

And now that they say the swiftech vid card block will be made in 1/2' fittings....I have to have it now!!!!!

I just put the default HS back on and a thick pile of AS3 and Im getting 382 on the core now up from 375...:):)

Chong345

I might have to use a thick pile of AS3 next time I bench. There is like a whole corner of the chip that is not making contact with my 80W pelt. So far I maxed out at about 435 with chilled water and 1.92V on the core. :(.
