I blew my 9800pro...RIP and am thinking about getting a 9600xt but I was just wondering how it was performing with some of the newest games like COD and NFSU.

9600XT is a decent card, however is it really worth it when you can buy the 9800P for about $65 more? I guess if ya just don't have the extra money, but I would sure try hard to save for the performance difference...

I'm really just looking for something to hold me over untill the next gen cards get here because I will upgrade to one of those when I can.

I have one. Personally I like it a lot. Clocked the **** out of it too.

COD and NFSU run nice and smooth at 1280x1024 2xaa 16xaf, high details.

I was really wanting a 9800pro, but unfortunately my ol' gf2 died on me before I had all the money. No extra card. But I only paid $147 for it so it wasn't that bad. Still depressing though that a month and a half after I get the thing, the 9800pros drop from the $299 price range to the $212-250's.

R9700's are sub-$200 cards now and are a better buy IMO.

to some people, everything is a better buy. but for a card to simply "hold over" 'til the next gen cards come out, it makes more sense to spend less now in prep to spend more later (especially when later isn't that far away).

I'm not arguing that a 9700/9800 series is better, hell, a 5900 nu is better, but they are also better with a higher price...just like everything else. and like I said originally..I was planning on a 9800p...but circumstances prevented it.
