Yeah sysfailur posted a link to that guys site awhile back, I think. He's tried a bunch of different forms of cooling and seems to be pretty experienced. Time to go LN2 OPP ;).

Sweet. Look forward to your scores. Be interesting to see what you can get that 2.8 chip to.

Good Luck. And you can bet I'm calling DaGooch the day you guys do it. I asked him if he would fly me in when I first mentioned that you 2 should get together for some LN2. I still think thats a good idea.

well lets hope so but it wont be thĂ:banana:t easy.

LN2 isnt exactly "plug and play" stuff, and I think 21.5K is a killer score even with that 4 gigs and 9700 clock... getting close it the first step, we'll see what we can squeeze out of it after that...

just hoping that when both of you go for the ln 2 cooling it aint on PPV as you said JC that man has a killer of a score there and its gonna take some beating ........ but still congrats to him for his efforts :toast:

Don't get carried away guys.

LN2 cooling is definitely lab stuff to me.

Even Formula 1 has restrictions on hardware.

Just my 2 cents.:)

us ? getting carried away? get outta here ;)

Seriously, I think LN2 is over the top. Its also dangerous.
I would never start messing with LN2 myself... I just happen to have a professionally qualified person who wants to do it, which will leave the benching and overclocking to me while I stay as far away from the liquid nitrogen as possible...

Hrmm, I don't really think LN2 is that risky... I mean frikkin boy scouts and science teachers play with it ALL the time. I think that I could handle LN2. I'm actually talking with someone about making a container for it as I'd like to give it a shot.

Just like every other method of cooling, you need to take precautions. Personally I think peltiers are more dangerous than LN2.

sjohnson
09-11-2002, 04:29 PM
Did LN2 generation, 500-1000 litres per batch, for the physics department, work-study in college. I'd rather be burnt by a pelt than frozen by LN2. Used to "play" with the stuff - a hotdog frozen in LN2 shatters like glass when dropped to the floor! Keep those fingers in waterproof winter gloves when you handle the stuff...

I think that LN2 is over-rated.

WHat I like about my scores and the scores Opp and Chong etc get are with everyday used PCs....not some crap on the desk that can only run for 15 mins before it blows up :D

I wouldn't say it's over-rated--It's just totally unuseable for everyday use. Unless you keep it in a contained section and looped some HEF like they did on the screensavers...

why don´t you say the whole top extreme 3dmark thingy is over rated

benchs done with low quality settings , grafics cards Oced displaying artifacts for a short period of time

nobody plays at the settings of the high scores in the front page

LN2 benching has all the credits it deserves IT`S damn dangerous ( risking your life for Ocking or benching you have to respect that) , it´s another class and it´s not for everyone

[IMHO]

OK sorry, I think I used the wrong words. What Im trying to say that is if you use LN2, then offcourse your going to get insane ocs and scores etc but whats the point if you can only run the machnie for 15 mins at a time?

I prefer to bench on systems that are also used for everyday stuff. The thought that i can get a pretty insane score on a normal desktop PC is pretty good......dont get me wront these LN2 guys are awesome, but I dont see the practicality in it....but then again they are only using to Bench arnt they....:D
hehehe

As you said its another class and its not for everyone and i guess im in that everyone :)

I get what you mean, and for the "every day normaly computing" comptuers, OPP's computer blows everyone's away. Holicho doesn't have that performance for everyday computing, where as OPP does, which kicks major ass :)

I see no probs in using LN2 barehanded...

I even pour it on warts to get their fukkin roots frozen out.
I have frozen quite some feet with that stuff ;)

all of you combined makes ONE BIG WOOSSIE :), (J/K)

except sampsa : respect, dude :-)
I only have three fingers left.
In total

You should see me play quake :)

BTW 3dmark is all about ten mad minutes.
It is not about stability.
If you wanna test stability you should get some uninterruptable 3dmark loop of 8 hours and quote that on overall speed.

3dmark is short, mean, and it's all about the highest speed anyone can achieve in those ten minutes.
if it's with LN2, dry ice or cold fission, who cares, the result is what counts.
No 'stability'bullsh*t in the 3dmark-threads, it doesn't belong there.

No, you aren't...

When THG did their little review/3dmark run, they turned up the same fsb problem.

Seems everyone's attributing it to something broken w/in 3dmark itself.

We so need 3DMark 2002 now.....I emailed 3dmark and they said that if you purchase 3dmark now you will get a free upgrade to 2002.

Question: Do you think its worth purchasing 3dmark if your 100% serious about it? It gives you some result browswer if you actually pay for it but I dont know what this is.

Keep using the demo?

I have the Pro version, I've had it ever since I did a killer score but the Orb was down so I couldn't upload it. With the result browser I can save and then send up the results when ever I want to. You can also keep track and compare your scores very easilly with it.

Thanks for the OPP :)

If you dont mind me asking, is that a paid Pro version or a cracked Pro version? Cos I have tried a cracked version and it doesnt have that result browser, it just unlocks the last few tests and stuff.

Depending on your answer, Ill make the purchase ASAP :toast:
