iĀ“m going to change mi pc but i donĀ“t know what to buy, if:

PIV 2.4 or 2.4B ???,
Mainboard ??? (Epox 4ga4+, Abit IT7 MAX2, ...I need MAX FSB and voltages),

DDR 512 3200 or RIMM

I use my pc to encoding DivX mainly and few games.

I need to reach these frequencies easily, without problems:

PIV 2.4 --------> 2.4@3.1 ( Magnum Waterblock 478, Eheim 1048, Black Ice Pro)

Is this possible ?? What is the best configuration for this overclocking ??

Which is the best mainboard to overclocking the PIV 2.4 ??

Thanks.

If you won't spend to much money buy a DDR based system, the question between the 2,4 and 2,4B is simple, with the b you could get a higher memory bandwidth cause the multiplier is lower (18 for 133 MHz(b) and 24 for 100 (no b)). the version with 24 is only good if you want to run low FSB with high clock rates ( RD ram system) or get into the 4 GHz Club. Motherboard I think the P4B533 is good, Abit does a good job as well.

Best choice for oc is a good DDR board, IMO.
The ASUS P4B-533 and the ABIT boards are the best choices at this time.
Get some good DDR memory, like the Corsair PC3200 C2. Have a 512MB of this and it runs fine at 231 Mhz, on an ABIT IT7.
As for the cpu : 2.4 B

the motherboard I'm using does DDR and the 533 FSB (2.26B) and is very stable and is running at 2.9 at 1.7 volts. the FSB will scale to 171 so far, and really need to push harder tonight. anyhow. it is the gigabyte 8IEXP. stellar board with loads of features and very user friendly. only thing I dont like is that it does not have a 3:4 mem ratio option. beyond that it is the perfect board.
