I keep hearing that the 9800P from newegg is the OEM spec model Sapphire built on the 9700 PCB. If that's true, then I'd much rather take the ATI at around the same price.

ihope its notbuilt on the 9700 pcb as i ordered on and its on the way:( god i wanted the 9800pnot the 9700with a 9800p chip

Thats the same one I have, and mines is Built by ATI.

Sapphire = manufacturer for Built By ATI cards.

So there's really going to be no difference, and no that doesn't seem to be the same PCB as the 9700 , apart from the color of the PCB I don't think there are too many similarities.

Sapphire does make something called a 'lite' version with a cheaper pcb... it's black. What you are looking at will be identical to ATi's.
