Hiya, I used to be able to run my system at
FSB=182
Multiplier=12

After I installed a PCI controller card for an extra hdd i cant get the PC to boot when i put FSB above 165 :\

Does anyone have any clue why and how i fix it? I really need the extra hdd so removing it isnt a solution ...

System is:
AMD XP2400+
NF7-S
PC2700

I'd really appreciate some help :)

you need an ide card that can handle a higher pci speed. look for one that can run at 66mhz pci speed.

welcome to xtremesystems btw :D :toast:

He's on NF2... why would that be the problem? What controller card is being used? If it's a promise card then it's obviously a problem with either the northbridge or southbridge.

From what I have heard it shouldnt be a problem with the NF2 but I do have problems... :D

The controller is an "Ultra ATA 133 PCI Controller" and thats what the box says..

Windows however tells me its a Silicon Image SIL 0680 Rev2.

Hope that can be useful info :)

and tnx for the welcome :up:

did you install the latest drivers? try to disable thhe onboard sata controller , its also a silicon image part, maybe theres a conflict :confused:

what hds have ya got and what exactly happened when you first plugged it in etc.

I´ve got IBM Deskstar hdds and when i botted the pc after installing the ide card it started beeping instead of boot up (as it does when I run fsb to fast or have multiplier set to high)

Disabling the onboard SATA didn't help But tnx for the tip :)

try booting with the card plugged in but no hds plugged in to it and install the drivers first.

Dunno what it was but i removed the ide card and now i can run it on FSB=182, Multiplier=12.

Was told i could use one of the SATA things to connect the hdd :)

now its time for a mobile radeon 2400+ and some better mem :banana:
